since windows 7 (maybe even since xp) there is a program (or command) called netsh it comes pre-shipped with the OS that can be called from the command prompt and with a few parameters you can set up a personal hotspot.

Connectify Hotspot includes a universal Ad Blocker to prevent annoying and unwanted ads from displaying on devices that join your hotspot! It can even block in-app ads on iPhones, iPads, and Android mobile devices.

If you do not have a Wi-Fi adapter, you will need to purchase one in order to create a Wi-Fi hotspot. Please note that there are many USB adapters/dongles available on the market that you can use with Connectify Hotspot.

Need a proven free WiFi hotspot software app that can help you share your Internet connection with computers, mobile devices, gaming consoles and others? Connectify Hotspot is the most popular free WiFi hotspot software that you can use to turn your Windows computer into a WiFi hotspot.

See how easy it is to create a WiFi hotspot with the Connectify Hotspot software app for Windows computers. Share the Internet with all your devices, extend your WiFi network range and get rid of annoying ads, all in one!

I was cruising the internet for other OS to install on an old device, came across this app to share hotspots with a standalone Wi-Fi device to create your own lan. Has anyone had experience with Connectify?

If you want to share an Internet connection from your laptop or Windows 10+ computer, you can use the built-in mobile hotspot functionality. Or you can use Connectify Hotspot, the most popular Wi-Fi hotspot software for Windows. But which one should you go with? It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Read below to see a comparison between the Windows Mobile Hotspot and Connectify Hotspot.

All of the above have been thoroughly tested by our team here at Connectify. Apart from the main differences in functionalities, here are some other points to consider when deciding on a Wi-Fi hotspot software to use:

In short, Connectify Hotspot 2016 is currently the only hotspot software that will work with Windows 10 and newer Wi-Fi cards. Folks using earlier versions of Windows can rest easy, too. Since we still support the Hosted Network protocol in Connectify Hotspot 2016, the software will still work on your current OS.

Connectify can easily act as your primary router or even a repeater for your home router, extending its range and providing Internet access wherever you need it. Connect to your home network, enter the same Wi-Fi name and password, and hit "Start Hotspot." Devices will automatically connect to the Internet through either your Connectify hotspot or home router depending on proximity.

Before you know it you can finally have Internet access in that impossible back room or basement. In addition, if you run Connectify away from home with these settings, any devices that need to be bound to a specific network (such as Eye-Fi cards or wireless printers) will work flawlessly with no additional configuration no matter where you are! So forget trying to mess around on the command line with ICS, Virtual Wi-Fi, or Hosted Network, just install Connectify and have a real hotspot up and running in seconds.

Connectify Hotspot includes an all new universal ad blocker to prevent annoying and unwanted ads from displaying on devices that join your hotspot! It can even block in-app ads on iPhones, iPads and Android mobile devices!

Improved Speedify Compatibility: Building on the Jumbo packet support, Speedify and Connectify Hotspot now automatically negotiate packet sizes. This means your hotspot clients really get the full speed, security, and stability benefits of your bonded Speedify connection. Make sure you're up to date with Speedify 10.7 or later.

Once I have seen "connectify Hotspot" created an OPEN WiFi network with my PC... So I think it can also be done in command line. I don't want to use third-party software so please help me to solve this problem.

The reason why you can't find a proper answer to this is because unfortunately, you really aren't able to create a hotspot through the netsh command without a password (as far as I've seen). I don't think that the command was made with this option.

I'm pretty sure that Connectify doesn't use netsh. My guess is that it uses one of the drivers that are installed with Connectify to set up a hotspot. Again, this is just a guess - I don't know too much about Connectify and its internal functioning.

1. Follow the given procedure in the video until you see the firewall (network) option.

2. Select Interactive filtering instead of Automatic. (Make sure the devices you want to connect to connectify me are with WIfi turned off)

3. After selecting interactive mode, ESET SS will give you a some of the allow deny options for some applications, now allow all the CONNECTIFY ME dialogues and make them a rule by checking the same button.

4. Turn on the wifi on the devices you want to connect to connectify me.

5. Connect to connectify me in your devices.

6. Now ESET SS will again ask for inbound and outbound traffic, check your device name and then and then select the ALLOW Button with making a rule checked.

7. Done. Now your devices must be connected to the connectify me.

8. Turn on the automatic filtering in Eset SS.

On a Mac, you can create a WiFi hotspot, only if it is from an Ethernet/RJ45, modem (3G/dun/PPP), Bluetooth or FireWire Internet connection as your source. The built-in hotspot will then use either of these source Internet connections and make it available via a WiFi hotspot through the built-in wireless interface. But, if you are connected to the Internet on a Mac via WiFi in the first place, then you cannot use that same built-in wireless interface to create the hotspot. In short, what you are asking does not work on a Mac running OS X. But it does on Windows!

In Windows 7, the OS can "split" a single wireless interface in two (a WiFi card + a wireless router), so the OS and applications can connect to a wireless network with internet, and use the same wireless interface to create a separate WiFi hotspot (on which internet sharing can be enabled and multiple devices connected).

This is very handy if you want to connect only your laptop to the Internet on public WiFi, and the configure the other devices to connect via the laptop's hotspot instead of the public one. I have a proxy & VPN software running on the laptop and the other devices are then invisible to the public hotspot.

After reading Andre's post, I zipped out and picked up the EnGenius EUB9801 wireless USB adapter. This has a driver for Mountain Lion which can be downloaded online. I then used the Sharing capability built into the Mac as described above. I connected to the available WiFi network using the EnGenius (so the input to my sharing is 802.11n) and shared through wireless (the internal "airport" wireless card). Once you have a USB adapter hooked up, WiFi to WiFi sharing becomes possible in this way. And, it's possible to connect multiple devices to the hotspot created by the airport, and to set up WPA2 Personal security (just click on WiFi Options on the sharing screen to set up security and to change your hotspot name if you'd like).

1. Select Network Connections from the Tools menu in Connectify .

2. Right click and select Properties on the Local Area Connection with the same name as you named your hotspot.

3. When the Properies opens click on the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) item.

4. Click Properties button.

5. Connectify should have set it up to use a specific IP address. Write down that IP address. (On mine it is 192.168.5.1.)

6. Open AVG Firewall. Look for the Gear symbol below and to the right of the Reset To Default button.

7. Click the Gear icon and select Advanced Settings...

8. In the window that shows up, click on Expert Mode button in lower left corner.

9. Click Defined Networks. Add the full subnet range of the IP address you wrote down to both IP Address Whitelist and Fictive Local IP Address. Once added it should look something like this on both lines: 192.168.x.1 - 192.168.x.255 where x is from the value you wrote down above (e.g. on mine it is of the form 192.168.5.1 - 192.168.5.255. This is very important because most types of data will not be transfered to your device without it.

10. Click Apply (you will have to enter Admin password).

11. Next click System Services. Under User-Defined System Rules click Manage or Add Your Own System Rules.

12. Click Add on the pop-up. Set to UDP, In, local port 67, remote ports 68, remote address range 0.0.0.0 - 0.0.0.1. The logs show FilterDevice being blocked for 0.0.0.0 on mine, but that is not a valid value for single IP. You may want to look at your logs to make sure that is the IP being blocked when your device is stuck on "Obtaining IP Address". I named my Rule Connectify - Obtain IP Address because that is what it allows.

13. Click Add again to create another rule. Set that Rule to TCP, Out, local port to whatever is getting blocked according to your logs (see Logs line below System Rules line mentioned in Step11. I saw values on mine in the range 10000 to 10041 for Facebook, but suggest setting higher...I used 10100...and maybe watch log for awhile to see if higher values get blocked. For remote address I used Safe Networks. I named my Rule Connectify - Data Transfer because that is what it makes work. At least for Facebook.

14. Click Ok button and enter admin password.

15. Your device should work, at least for Facebook. I suggest trying other apps and watching the log for things that get blocked. I will add to this as I spot new things as I have not seen anywhere on Google search that worked for me. be457b7860
