We are planning on hosting the Period Poverty 5k, a fundraiser for menstrual products as well as awareness for period poverty in Omaha. Feminine hygiene products are generally the least donated items to Omaha’s many women and family shelters. Since menstruation can be perceived as a taboo topic, many schools also don’t discuss the importance of raising awareness of menstrual equity. Through the Period Poverty 5k, our mission is to deconstruct the stigma behind menstrual equity and raise funds for safe menstrual products.
Tickets are 10 dollars online and 15 dollars in person (children under 7 are free)!

Prizes
Thanks to Genesis health club we have free two-week passes to Genesis health club for each individual who runs.
We also have t-shirts and water bottles along for the first-place winner.
Where are we donating?
"It had expanded healthcare services, developed a group mentoring program for at-risk youth, added free legal services, opened a dental clinic, and introduced social work and case management services. In 2015, the center provided services to an average of 7,000 people per month. Despite the increase in services, the Heart Ministry Center strives to provide the same high quality, personalized care to every client who walks through the door."
