At the end of November we had to leave Tanzania to renew our kids' tourist VISAs, so we decided to make a vacation of it. We really lucked out when we choose and AirBNB that was on a Wildlife Conservancy. Some of our highlights included a boat safari where we saw hippopotamuses up close, horse back riding past the zebras and giraffes and enjoying the swimming pool as the wildebeest looked on. The farm was so peaceful. The lake and acacia forest were beautiful. It was a great chance to recharge, relax and enjoy the outdoors. The kids have written some more details about what we did at Sanctuary Farm below.
Picnic lunch at the border.
The Rift Valley. These guys were enjoying the view too!
Oops...we accidentally took the "scenic" route.

After hours of driving, we finally got to Sanctuary Farms and our house for the few days we were there. Our house was called Mabati House. When we saw it, we were not impressed but when we went inside, it looked amazing. There were big doors instead of windows and one of the walls could open up. It basically felt like you were outside. There was a nice bedroom with lego. There was a bookshelf with lots of books and a bean bag chair. In Sanctuary Farms there were a lot of dogs there was also a pool nearby. One night, my dad heard something outside so we opened up a door and there were zebras, giraffes and maybe even a hippo. We had a very good time at Mabati House.

When went to Kenya, we stayed at a place called Sanctuary Farms. There, we went a boat safari. It was very awesome for several reasons. Firstly, we went past the fishermen. There, our guide bought a fish. Then, we passed the hippos who were either sleeping on Crescent Island or lounging in the lake. Lastly, we went past the fish eagles who were perched on trees in the water. Our guide whistled at the fish eagles and threw the fish. Then, after a few seconds, a fish eagle came diving down to get it and bring it back to its nest. The boat safari was really fun and and I liked seeing all the animals.

We went on safari; not on a safari truck but on horseback! My horse was Elvis, a black and brown horse. Toby’s horse was Hot Spice. He was white with black specks. Zeke’s horse was Fan Belt, a brown horse. Mom’s horse was a chestnut coloured horse named Bonnie Lad. Dad’s horse Galaxy was brown. In books, I think that horseback riding looks easy. Just because it looks easy doesn’t mean that it is easy. for example The trot is difficult because you have to hold on really tight. The whole horse ride was great fun but the best part was the animals! On the ride, we saw a bunch of animals such as giraffe, zebra, gazelle and waterbucks. It was a beautiful ride. I’ll never regret it!
