WW2 started when Germany and the USSR attacked Poland which led to a lot of refugees settling in Africa: Kenya, Uganda ,and Tanzania. The biggest settlement was in Tengeru in Tanzania (5000 people). The Poles started schools, churches and a farm (which is a agricultural college now). In the early fifties, the Poles could return to their homes but some stayed because they did not have anywhere to go.
We walked for 30 minutes from our house to the cemetery.
There was a nice garden beside the Polish cemetery .
The Polish cemetery was super cool. The man who took care of it was very nice. His father took care of it before him so it was like an inheritance to him. He was very proud of his job.
There was separate parts for Jewish people, Catholic, and Orthodox. You could tell by the symbol on the gravestone. There were some people there that died when they were 1-2 years old because of malaria. Most of the dates are from 1942-1946.
