I tried options 1, 3, 4 but nothing happened. When I use option 2 which is without loader it works properly, but then if restarted again, same procedure. I want my laptop to directly boot Windows at startup with no need to press any function key. Please help me on this.

... these things tell me that you installed a Fresh copy of Windows 7 instead of the Toshiba recovery or recovering from a backup... which means that your new installation would not use the SLIC loader anymore because it isn't there... which means whenever you attempt to boot with it, the boot fails.

So... the question becomes... how do you change the default action so that you don't try to boot with the SLIC loader. Try this. Choose option 2, and boot normally. Once in Windows 7, open the Control Panel, go to System and Security, and then to System. Click on the Advanced System Settings on the left. From the popup window, click the Advanced Tab, and go to the Startup and Recovery settings. Change which version of Windows 7 is the default.

hi Wonko,

i tried the command with root (hd0,1) also let me boot and log in to windows.

and yes there is system reserve with 100mb listed in disk management.

i think hd0,1 is the actual volume where windows file are.

Maybe you are in the situation (typical of a pre-installed Windows 7, like on a laptop) that the first partition (which is (hd0,0) in grub4dos notation) is not mounted on the booted system.

In this case the partition on which \windows\boot\pcat\bootmgr is in grub4dos notation (hd0,1) and has a drive letter C:\ assigned in Windows.

You will need to use either DISKPART (command line) or Disk Manager (GUI) to temporarily assign a drive letter to it (hd0,0) and mount it, let's say that you assign to it the drive letter T:\

In this case you then need to copy the C:\windows\boot\pcat\bootmgr to root of T:\, i.e. T:\bootmgr (and you should find the bootmgr_ on T:\ as well).

* Changed the way the loader is wrote to the partition (no more mounting) * Fixed loader modes to stop system hangs Improves Windows 7 boot time on a Mac (Compared to other loaders) Works on Windows 7 Ultimate and Professional editions Should work on all languages (Tested on simplified Chinese) Installer and uninstaller built in as standardhecks your Windows 7 version and build before installutomatically finds your active boot partition (May work on Dell PC's)

The BIOS in modern PCs initializes and tests the system hardware components (Power-on self-test), and loads a boot loader from a mass storage device which then initializes a kernel. In the era of DOS, the BIOS provided BIOS interrupt calls for the keyboard, display, storage, and other input/output (I/O) devices that standardized an interface to application programs and the operating system. More recent operating systems do not use the BIOS interrupt calls after startup.[6]

The term BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) was created by Gary Kildall[8][9] and first appeared in the CP/M operating system in 1975,[4][5][9][10][11][12] describing the machine-specific part of CP/M loaded during boot time that interfaces directly with the hardware.[5] (A CP/M machine usually has only a simple boot loader in its ROM.)

When INT 19h is called, the BIOS attempts to locate boot loader software on a "boot device", such as a hard disk, a floppy disk, CD, or DVD. It loads and executes the first boot software it finds, giving it control of the PC.[18]

I formatted dell inspiron n5110 with windows 7 ultimate 32bit.

but the notebook doesn't boot at all,

after dell logo screen it restarted again & again,

when i press f8 to boot in safe mode following option are appearing on screen.

Regarding the bigger question, it's hard to say for sure whether a fresh install of Windows 10 on a wiped drive would automatically pick up the OEM Windows 10 key, as it can depend on the specific system and its configuration. It's possible that the key may be stored in the BIOS or firmware, but that's not always the case.

Also, you may look for reddit windows keys legit. This can be the quickest solution for installing the new system. Good luck!

Those are both fast boot times for me but you can check to see if there is priority on the sata ports for startup disks. I know on my Fatal1ty board there is. Sometimes sata0 or sata1 is the boot port and not the others. If there is a hardware compatibility option you can turn that off as well but I recommend leaving it on. Install any fonts recently? Make sure your ssd has current firmware. Also boot times slowly can dwindle and 20 seconds is still fast as hell that is what my boot time is with extremely tweaked windows 7 pro 64.

I built a new computer, but the only different components are the Motherboard and CPU, the SSD is also new but i tried re installing windows 7 onto another SSD and the boot time is still exactly 21 seconds.

It does not seem to find the Fusion Drive, even with EFI/Clover folder copied to both EFI partitions and FD UUID added as default volume. Do I have to add "boot" to the EFI partition if I want to have clover ONLY on the tumbdrive so I don't break the chameleon bootloader installed on Fusion Drive (stored on seperate boot helper partitions)?

In my case use daz loader RSDT=PubKey=Maker is enough to activate Windows 7,no need XSDT.However After placing SLIC.aml into EFI/Clover/ACPI/Windows and rebooting into Windows, I observed that SLIC Dump ToolKit said SLIC doesn't exit.

In my case, I had UEFI Windows installed on a GPT hard drive with Clover booting Microsoft's bootmgfw.efi from the EFI FAT32 partition. In this scenario, the Daz loader cannot be installed/doesn't work. Clover r2427+ correctly dropped my OEM SLIC and replaced it with the one I placed in EFI/Clover/ACPI/Windows when booting via bootmgfw.efi - refer @dmazar's post #3438.

I enclosed a screen shots of it. If I choose GRUB Command Line, the command is different from the command we use in cmd or command prompt we use in windows. And I have no idea what is it. I need help with booting from Safe Mode. My computer is running really slow maybe because of the virus. And reformatting will be my last option. What key can I use to boot from Advanced Boot options, so I can manually fix the virus. If I insert the recovery disk and hit f8 upon booting, the advanced boot option will appear and if I choose the safe mode. The repair box is in front of a black screen so I can't really open the windows on safe mode because after repairing, the system will be restarted. Please send me replies asap.

GRand Unified Boot loader or GRUB is a Unified Boot loader that is based on GNU project. It is used to boot from multi operating system that is installed on your computer. This can boot off LINUX/DOS, through windows boot manager, MBR/CD or syslinux as well as lilo. It has two different kinds, the GRUB for DOS and GNU GRUB. The first GRUB is a boot loader that is flexible while the GNU GRUB needs to perform three processes in order boot. The GRUB operates under grldr which is a single file and the grldr.mbr is where the boot loader is placed which can be placed to partition boot sector or the MBR by installing it. The grldr.mbr specifically the boot code will load the first partition found when it performs a dynamic scan for every local partition that is under the root directory.

You can also use third party software which is the EasyBCD to solve this problem. But it has no full support for Windows 7, only the Vista, it will work fine but instead of a Windows 7 loading screen, you will see the Vista loading screen when the windows loads.

I tried to press some buttons on the keyboard, but nothing happened. Finally I long-pressed the power button for a few minutes, which turned off the laptop. Then I restarted the computer and when I selected the "Windows 7 (Loader) on /dev/sda1 entry in Linux boot loader, the computer restarted and showed me the Linux boot loader again. I repeated the same but nothing changed.

I have run Boot Repair from my Ubuntu installation (I am able to boot into Ubuntu!) but did not try the recommended repair options (because I believe the problem is related to the Windows boot loader and not to the Linux boot loader). Instead I have created the boot info summary.

First reinstall the Windows boot loader - boot from the Windows 7 installation media and on Install now screen select Repair your computer, choose Command prompt and execute the following commands :

Then reinstall the GRUB boot loader - boot from the Ubuntu installation media and select Try Ubuntu without installing. Once on the Ubuntu Live desktop execute the following commands :

Repeat Step 1 (reinstall the Windows boot loader) and in case it boots into the Windows system correctly, search for the problem and solve it from within there. If the Windows OS doesn't start successfully, boot from the Windows installation media ... try to solve the issues using the repair options. When this attempt fails too, you'll unfortunately have to reinstall the Windows system. be457b7860
