Webfonts can be used on a single domain. Agencies responsible for multiple websites, for example web design agencies or hosting providers, may not share a single webfont license across multiple websites.

Every time the webpage using the webfont kit is loaded (i.e, the webfont kit CSS which holds the @font-face rule is called) the counting system counts a single pageview for each webfont within the webfont kit.

We'll supply a kit containing webfonts that can be used within digital ads, such as banner ads. This kit may be shared with third parties who are working on your behalf to produce the ad creatives, however you are wholly responsible for it.

An Electronic Doc license is based on the number of publications in which the font is used. Each issue counts as a separate publication. Regional or format variations don't count as separate publications.

Try to modify the WeatherWizard demo to alter the graphical content. For example, use the fillRoundRect method instead of fillRect or apply another font size in the setFont method. Find the complete code for this applet in the WeatherWizard.java file. The demo also requires the following images: weather-cloud.png, weather-rain.png, weather-snow.png, and weather-sun.png located in the images directory.

What is the 'Hershey text editor'? Have you had a look at the most recent version of the Hershey text extension? It allows you to add your own fonts more easily than previously, according to its author: -text-v30/

It seems like I have an idea different from lcm and Moini about the purpose of a single stroke font. If I misunderstood, it would not be the first time. Yet the CamBam font at fontvilla that looks like Hershey Text with lar3ry references.

Clicking any of the font names above (or image samples) will take you to a page that shows examples of that font in use in the wild. This is a great way to gather inspiration and see the combinations that other designers have used. I also wrote an article sharing some of my favorite combinations with a focus on lesser-used typefaces. I have additional pairing recommendations in The Definitive Guide to Free Fonts, which also includes the closest free alternative on Google Fonts to every commercial font featured on Typewolf.

Yes. All fonts available on Google Fonts are released as open-source under either the SIL Open Font License version 1.1 or Apache License version 2.0. That said, you should always double-check and read the individual license before using any font in a project.

Yes. All fonts available on Google Fonts are released as open-source under either the SIL Open Font License version 1.1 or Apache License version 2.0. Both licenses allow for redistribution with the requirement that a copy of the original license and copyright notice is included. That said, you should always double-check and read the individual license before redistributing any font.

Yes. You can download the ZIP files from this page (using the links located under the bottom right corner of the sample images) and then install the font files locally on your system like you would any other font.

I recommend using the Google Fonts API (the HTML/CSS embed code snippets provided by Google). This allows you to take advantage of cross-site caching, which means a user will already have the fonts cached locally in their browser if they have visited another website that uses the same fonts (and due to the popularity of Google Fonts, this is oftentimes likely). If you use self-hosting, every user will have to download the fonts directly from your server which is usually much slower.

The em is a very useful unit as it scales with the size of thefont. One em is the height of the font. By using em's you canpreserve the general look of the Web page independently of the fontsize. This is much safer than alternatives such as pixels orpoints, which can cause problems for users who need large fonts toread the text.

Most browsers use a larger font size for more importantheadings. If you override the default size, you run the risk ofmaking the text too small to be legible, particularly if you usepoints. You are therefore recommended to specify font sizes inrelative terms.

It is likely that your favorite font won't be available on allbrowsers. To get around this, you are allowed to list several fontsin preference order. There is a short list of generic font nameswhich are guaranteed to be available, so you are recommended to endyour list with one of these: serif, sans-serif, cursive, fantasy,or monospace, for instance:

In this example, important headings would preferably be shown inGaramond, failing that in Times New Roman, and if that isunavailable in the browsers default serif font. Paragraph textwould appear in Verdana or if that is unavailable in the browser'sdefault sans-serif font.

The legibility of different fonts generally depends more on theheight of lower case letters than on the font size itself. Fontslike Verdana are much more legible than ones like "Times New Roman"and are therefore recommended for paragraph text.

My third rule is to set the font family on headings, p and ulelements if you intend to set borders or backgrounds on elementssuch as div. This is a work-around for a bug where the browserforgets to use the inherited font family, instead switching to thedefault font as set by the browser preferences.

The size attribute can be used to select the font sizeas a number from 1 to 6. If you place a - or + sign before thenumber it is interpreted as a relative value. Use size="+1" whenyou want to use the next larger font size and size="-1" when youwant to use the next smaller font size, e.g.

There are a couple of things you should avoid: Don't choosecolor combinations that make text hard to read for people who arecolor blind. Don't use font to make regular text into headings, which should always be marked up using the h1 to h6 tags asappropriate to the importance of the heading.

From traditional serifs to creative scripts, choosing great font pairs is essential for every project. But with so many options out there, who can say which fonts are best suited to pack a visual punch?
