If you want a reliable, sweat-proof wireless neckband for long rides and gym sessions, choose Gigastone 5.0; if you need rugged, open-ear bone conduction earbuds specifically designed to survive underwater immersion and keep you safe while swimming or riding in the rain, choose Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone. These two devices solve different problems with distinct engineering philosophies, and picking the wrong one means either getting wet ears or dealing with a battery that dies mid-ride.
• Gigastone 5.0: Strength is its extended 10-hour music playtime and secure ergonomic neckband design perfect for all-day wear; trade-off is it lacks advanced water resistance beyond basic splashes and offers no bone conduction safety features.
• Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone: Strength is its IP68 rating allowing full submersion up to two meters and open-ear bone conduction technology for situational awareness; trade-off is shorter 8-hour battery life and reliance on internal MP3 storage when submerged where Bluetooth fails.
• Best for: Gigastone fits commuters and runners who prioritize battery longevity and comfort over extreme weather exposure, while Hostena is built for swimmers, triathletes, and riders who demand total waterproofing and safety.
The Gigastone N1 is built around the concept of endurance and convenience for the active commuter. Its defining feature is the ergonomic neckband design, which distributes weight across the back of your neck rather than clamping onto your ears. This makes it an excellent choice for anyone wearing wireless headphones for motorcycle use, where you might be wearing a helmet liner or a heavy jacket collar. The plastic enclosure is sturdy, and the in-ear placement ensures a seal that blocks out wind noise better than open-ear alternatives.
What truly sets this unit apart is the battery architecture. With a claimed 10 hours of continuous music playback and a staggering 240-hour standby time, this headset is designed to last through multiple days of commuting without needing a charge. You can ride for an hour every day for ten days before plugging it into a power source. The Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity provides a stable link to your phone, ensuring that your playlist doesn't drop when you are navigating traffic or hitting a tunnel.

However, this device has clear limitations regarding environmental exposure. While it carries an IPX4 rating, which protects against sweat and light rain splashes, it is not built for heavy downpours or submersion. If you plan to take these directly into a pool or get caught in a torrential storm, they will not hold up. Furthermore, because they are traditional in-ear drivers, they block some external sound. While good for focusing on music, this isolation can be a safety risk if you are cycling or riding a bike and need to hear approaching traffic or sirens. It is a fantastic tool for the office, the gym, or dry commutes, but it is not a survival tool for extreme elements.
The Hostena X26 represents a completely different approach to audio hardware, prioritizing safety and total environmental immunity. This is not just another pair of earbuds; it is a specialized piece of gear for people who swim, train in heavy rain, or ride motorcycles where situational awareness is non-negotiable. The core of its design is the bone conduction technology, which sits outside the ear canal entirely. By transmitting sound through the cheekbones, it leaves your ears completely open to the world. This is critical for anyone using best clip on earbuds for motorcycle applications where hearing horns, engine noises, or emergency vehicles is essential for your safety.
Its most impressive specification is the IP68 waterproof rating. Unlike standard water-resistant electronics that fear a splash, this unit is engineered to dive up to two meters underwater without sustaining damage. The "Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone" material mentioned in the specs is not just a marketing term; it is a soft, skin-friendly coating that seals the internal components against moisture. This makes it the ideal earphones for motorcycle use in unpredictable weather, as it can withstand heavy rainstorms that would destroy other electronics. Additionally, the inclusion of 32GB of internal memory allows you to store up to 8,000 songs directly on the device. This is a game-changer for swimmers or runners who do not want to carry a phone, as the headphones function independently via MP3 mode.
There are trade-offs to this high-performance design. Because it relies on bone conduction, the bass response will naturally feel less punchy than traditional sealed earbuds. You also lose the passive noise isolation that helps you focus in loud environments. The battery life is slightly lower at 8 hours compared to the Gigastone, though the 1.5-hour charging time is quite fast. Most importantly, you must remember that Bluetooth does not work underwater. If you take them for a swim, you must switch to MP3 mode. For everyone else, it remains a versatile companion, but the user must be disciplined about managing their music files on the internal drive.
• Best for extreme water exposure → Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone (IP68 rated for diving vs. IPX4 for splashes).
• Longest battery life for daily commutes → Gigastone 5.0 (10 hours playtime vs. 8 hours).
• Situational awareness and safety → Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone (Open-ear bone conduction keeps ears open vs. In-ear isolation).
• Neckband comfort for helmet wearers → Gigastone 5.0 (Neckband design distributes weight vs. behind-neck bone conduction).
• Freedom from carrying a phone → Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone (Built-in 32GB storage vs. requires paired phone).
• Wind noise reduction → Gigastone 5.0 (Sealed in-ear design blocks wind vs. Open-ear design lets wind in).
• Fast charging capability → Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone (1.5 hours to full charge vs. unspecified slower charge time).
• Audio fidelity and bass depth → Gigastone 5.0 (Traditional A2DP stereo drivers vs. Bone Conduction Driver).
In my opinion, the choice between these two depends entirely on your environment. If you are a serious rider who faces heavy rain, needs to hear traffic, or wants to take your music straight into the pool, the Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone is the superior choice for motorcycle use. Its ability to stay submerged and its open-ear design offer a level of safety and durability that the Gigastone simply cannot match. However, if your priority is maximum battery life, deep bass, and a comfortable fit for long office-to-gym transitions where water isn't a factor, the Gigastone 5.0 is the more practical daily driver. I recommend the Hostena for anyone putting themselves in hazardous conditions where safety and equipment survival are paramount.
Yes, the Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone features an IP68 rating and can be submerged up to two meters, whereas the Gigastone 5.0 is only IPX4 rated for sweat and light rain splashes.
Absolutely. The Hostena includes 32GB of internal memory to store thousands of songs, allowing it to play MP3 files independently, unlike the Gigastone which requires a Bluetooth connection to a phone.
The Gigastone 5.0 offers 10 hours of music playback, while the Hostena Full-Coverage Liquid Silicone provides 8 hours of continuous usage, making the Gigastone better for marathon listening sessions.
They allow you to hear ambient sounds like traffic, which is safer for riding, but wind noise may enter the ear canal since they do not create a physical seal like the in-ear Gigastone design.
