The Evolution of Gibbers Studio
Since the beginning of our latest project, our goal has been to push the boundaries of immersion and performance. While Unity has been a valuable tool in our journey, we have reached a point where we need more control over our tech stack to truly achieve our vision.
Today, we are excited to announce that development is officially transitioning to our proprietary engine: RETRO USER NATIVE (R.U.N. Engine).
The R.U.N. Engine (Retro User Native) is being designed from the ground up to handle the specific needs of our upcoming title. By moving away from a general-purpose engine like Unity, we are gaining several key advantages:
Native Optimization: By building on a native framework, we can squeeze every bit of performance out of the hardware, ensuring smoother gameplay and faster load times.
Custom Retro Tooling: The R.U.N. Engine is built to handle the specific "Retro" aesthetic and technical constraints we love, without the overhead of modern engine bloat.
Total Creative Control: From the rendering pipeline to the physics systems, we now have the power to tweak every line of code to fit our game’s unique mechanics.
What This Means for Development
Porting a project is a massive undertaking, but it is an investment in the game’s future. While the transition requires a brief period of restructuring, the long-term result will be a more stable, polished, and unique experience for our players.
We are currently in the process of migrating our core systems, including player movement and world-streaming logic, into the new environment. We are thrilled with the initial results and can’t wait to show you more.
Will the game be disband from unity?
No the game is still being worked on In unity
The goal of our engine is to take control over the things we dont have making our own engine allows us to bring these projects too you easier and faster Without having to work around limitations
This is a new chapter for Gibbers Studio. We want to thank our community for the ongoing support as we take this leap forward. We will continue to share updates, technical deep-dives, and behind-the-scenes looks at the R.U.N. Engine in action.
Keep an eye on this space and follow our socials for the latest milestones.
