Gianni De Bruyn

Gianni De Bruyn is an Assistant Professor at the Innovation, Policy and Entrepreneurship (IPE) Thrust, Society Hub at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). His research examines how firms, capital, geopolitical tensions, and international policy shape firm innovation and the emergence of new industries. His current work focuses on the commercial space economy, combining archival and computational methods to study firm strategy, and entrepreneurship in nascent markets. He leads the Space Business Initiative, a research program studying these dynamics, and holds a PhD in Business Administration (Strategy and International Business) from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business and a Master’s in Finance from Peking University’s HSBC Business School.
