Gianmarco Merino is a Peruvian engineer. He is also a consultant, an entrepreneur, and an amateur—but enthusiastic—author. His work focuses on supply chain management, entrepreneurship, the informal economy, and micro and small enterprises (MSEs), primarily in the American continent, with a particular interest in the Latin American Region.
Raised and educated on the warm coast of Northern Peru, Sullana in Piura, Gianmarco completed his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Piura in Peru. He also holds a Master of Applied Science in Supply Chain Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US.
With several years of industry experience around the American continent (US, Mexico, and South America), Gianmarco Merino has a wealth of expertise in end-to-end supply chain management, having held key positions in the industry, consulting, and academia.
In this regard, he has worked on projects related to Supplier Development and Industrialization, ISOs implementation, Digital Transformation, Forecasting, Inventory and Transportation Management, Procurement & Sourcing, Sales&Operations Planning, Supply Chain Finance, Resilience, and Risk Management, Quality Management Systems (ISO), and Innovation using world-class frameworks/tools such as Lean Six Sigma, Statistics, Machine Learning, and Network Design.
Gianmarco has co-authored a book chapter, partnered with MIT CTL, and co-founded a company. He also occasionally writes about business and supply chain trends. Likewise, Gianmarco explores other exciting topics, such as literature, psychology, philosophy, and—rarely—politics. He speaks three languages including, Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and spends his free time playing the drums.
