Synopsis
Romantic Drama based on historical facts dated back to the XV Century. The beautiful Laura Malatesta (14yo), orphan of mother since her birth and later of his father, lives her teenage at the court of her uncles Elisabetta Gonzaga and Carlo Malatesta. They give her the best possibile education, reason for her second name “PARISINA” (meaning in the local language “a lady from Paris”).
To strengthen their power over the borders of their territories they decide to arrange the marriage between Laura and Niccolò III D’Este (Lord of Ferrara). He, a skilled diplomat in the political dealings of his time, recently became widower and is famous for his libertine lifestyle with many mistresses and illegitimate sons.
Parisina at Court find benevolence from everyone, except Ugo (14yo), the oldest of Niccolo’s illegitimate sons, and Stella de Tolomei, his mother, that see her as an obstacle to his succession to Niccolò.
During the plague, the two young are sent away from Ferrara. They go to Elisabetta’s at the Fortress of Gradara where Cupid throws his arrow. Between Parisina and Ugo begin a secret love story, with the complicity of her educator Giselle.
Once back in Ferrara after a staying in Gradara, the two more and more involved in their turmoiling passion, get caught in action by Fiammetta, a damsel. With the complicity of Zoese, her fianceé, they inform Niccolò of the betrayal. He catch them in action looking into a hole in the ceiling.
After a quick trial, the two youngster get thrown in the Estense Castle prisons. The following night they are behaded.
