GHOSTWALL PRIVACY POLICY Last updated: 2026-06-27
Ghostwall is built around a simple rule: your data stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what the app stores, what leaves your device, and why each permission exists.
1. LOCAL DATA STORAGE All app data is stored locally in a private database and is never uploaded to any server we control: • Tracker-blocking history (which domains were blocked, and when) • Per-app firewall rules (which apps you've blocked or excluded) • Custom blocklist domains you've imported • App settings (theme, DNS provider choice, toggle states)
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes this data. You can also export your settings to a file at any time from Settings → Backup & Restore.
2. EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION • DNS-over-HTTPS queries go to whichever resolver you select (Cloudflare, Google, AdGuard, Quad9, or NextDNS). Please review that provider's own privacy policy, since they process your non-tracker DNS queries. • When you enable Tor, traffic is routed through the public Tor network. • The optional "Check My IP" button calls a public IP-lookup endpoint (cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace) only when you tap it. • Pro purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing — we never see your payment details.
3. PERMISSIONS & USAGE • VPN: Required to intercept DNS queries and enforce firewall/Tor routing. We inspect domain names to match against the tracker blocklist; we do not log page content, app usage, or browsing history. • Location: Used only to power the GPS-spoofing test-location provider. We never read or transmit your real location. • Notifications: Used for the persistent shield/Tor status indicator while protection is active. • Query all installed apps: Used by the App Scanner to detect tracker SDKs and risky permissions on your device. Results are computed and shown locally and are never sent anywhere.
4. OUR GUARANTEE No ads. No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. No account or sign-in required. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, because we don't collect any data to share in the first place.
5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY Ghostwall is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
6. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and, for material changes, we'll surface a notice in the app.
