The Role of the Language Teacher

Creative Teaching

Lesson Content:

  • I can place current trends and practice in a wider context:

Topic “My town". The greatest demand for people in Zaporozhye is bridges across the Dnipro . This problem raises far-reaching economic, financial and other questions.

I can use metaphor and analogy to make connections:

I can put such a task: imagine that you are a producer . What book will you choose for filming, what actors and actresses would you like to see in your film.

Teaching Styles:

  • I can switch between styles and varying pace:

VAK game. Visual: "turn the colours up" and talk with partner about what you see; auditory: "turn the sound up" and describe what you can hear; kinaesthetic: "jump in to the picture" describe what you can feel both physically and emotionally. Poems: "clap your hands, step your feet..."

  • I have confidence and ability to inspire:

Well done! Good idea!

  • I can make students feel valued:

The teacher gives regular clear feedback: ‘I can hear some really interesting parts of your story.’

The Learning Experience:

  • I can engage students on an affective and emotional level:

  • I can challenge students to engage and reflect:
