Join us for a rally to uplift civil liberties, support our migrant neighbors, and stand against invasive mass surveillance, on Sunday, August 16th at 12pm on the courthouse steps at 701 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz.
GTFO will kick off the National Week of Action Against ALPRs (Automated License Plate Readers, like Flock’s) in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. This is an honor granted by regional grassroots coalition organizers, in recognition of Santa Cruz being the very first city in the state of California to cancel a Flock surveillance contract.
The event will feature a diverse array of voices representing many of our partner organizations, as well as critical calls to action to support civil liberties for all people in our communities and to help protect our migrant neighbors.

Español: Favor de acompañarnos a Get The Flock Out Santa Cruz County (GTFO) [saquen las cámaras Flock del Condado de Santa Cruz] y nuestros aliados en una reunión para defender las libertades civiles, apoyar a nuestros vecinos migrantes y oponernos a la vigilancia masiva intrusiva. GTFO dará inicio a la Semana Nacional de Acción contra los ALPR (cámaras/ lectores automatizados de placas, como los de la empresa Flock) en el área de la Bahía de San Francisco. Este honor se nos ha otorgado por los organizadores de la coalición regional, en reconocimiento de que Santa Cruz fue la primera ciudad del estado de California en cancelar el contrato de vigilancia con la empresa Flock.
El evento contará con una variedad de voces representando muchas organizaciones aliadas, y con llamadas urgentes a la acción para defender las libertades civiles de todas las personas en nuestras comunidades y proteger a nuestros vecinos migrantes.

There are 5 local government jurisdictions in our County, plus State and privately owned ALPRs:
City of Watsonville - There are currently a total of 37 (!) Flock surveillance cameras in Watsonville.
City of Capitola - has 10 Flock cameras.
City of Santa Cruz - all Flock cameras were removed as of March 13, 2026.
City of Scotts Valley - no Flock cameras.
County of Santa Cruz - no Flock cameras. We will continue to work with the Board of Supervisors and the Sheriff to ensure that none are installed.
Highways 1 and 17: CHP leases ALPR (Automated License Plate Readers) surveilance cameras from various vendors.
ALPRs installed at private businesses (both Home Depots) and some Homeowners Associations (HOAs)
UCSC: Genentech ALPR cameras
