The Intensive German Language program will run in conjunction with the International Studies Kiel program that fulfills International Studies major requirements. The University of Siegen library currently primarily offers stock of relevance to the subjects taught at the university. In addition to print media, the range of digital resources is continually being expanded. Whether you intend to continue a language you studied in high school or wish to explore a new one, an online placement test is required to enroll in language courses. The German Club promotes the study of German culture and language at Bucknell and is run by students, for students. Throughout the year we sponsor films, speakers, discussions, study breaks and trips. In the past, we have visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., taken a trip to the Amish country in Lancaster County, and shared our experiences with other students who are interested in traveling abroad. We also have a German-speaking lunch table once a week with the teaching assistant from the University of Heidelberg. Hallo zusammen! I'm Leanne Rohrbach and I graduated from UMD in 2016 with a BA in Psychology and German Studies. I knew I wanted to study at the University of Maryland after my sister had such a great experience, and I can only agree with her. Not only is the campus gorgeous, but there are so many ways to get involved both academically and socially. I joined the Sigma Kappa sorority, participated in a German language partnership program, worked as a psychology research assistant, and much more.

My experience at UMD was a lot of fun! I added German as a major at the end of my first-year year of college, after having taken the 203 course. I took many German classes over the next few years, and learned a ton about language, culture, history, art, and literature. The highlight of my time at UMD was definitely my short winter-term study abroad in Tbingen, Germany. Getting to practice my German in Germany was a very cool experience, and even being there for just three weeks improved my listening and speaking skills significantly.

The German Language Program at Stanford is amongst the most ambitious language programs in the country. The program is informed through the most current research in second language acquisition and continually proppelling forward through the extraordinary talents and abilities of Stanford students.

In our second-year program, students further refine their language skills and develop proficiency for studying-abroad, partaking in an internship, researching, or working in a German-speaking country/place as well as further academic and professional endeavors in German.
