GerberView is a PCB (Gerber/Excellon) file viewer. Your board files never leave your device. The app has no accounts, no ads, and no crash reporting.
Every file is parsed and rendered locally. The app only reads a file you choose through the Android file picker or hand to it via "Open with". It does not request broad storage access, and it never uploads, copies, or shares your files or anything extracted from them.
To show a "recent boards" list, the app keeps a small private record of up to 10 recently opened boards: the file's name, a link to where it lives, its layer count and size, and a small preview image. This stays in the app's private storage, is never transmitted, and is deleted when you remove a board with the × on its card, clear the app's storage, or uninstall. A temporary private copy of each opened file is kept for 24 hours so the app can render it, then deleted automatically.
The app sends a few anonymous events through Aptabase (hosted in the United States) so we can see how it is used in aggregate: the app was opened; a board was opened (single file or ZIP, layer count, detected CAD tool, and how it was opened); a file failed to open (the reason and its file extension); the view was switched; the layer list was edited.
These events never contain file names, paths, or file contents, and no personal, device, or advertising identifier. Each event carries only a short-lived session id that is not linked across sessions or to you. Aptabase's own policy is at aptabase.com/legal/privacy.
One permission: Internet, used only for the analytics above. No camera, microphone, location, contacts, or storage permission is requested.
GerberView is a technical utility, not directed at children, and knowingly collects no personal information from anyone.
