Georgia Safe: Tourist ("the app") is a personal safety assistant for people travelling in Georgia. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with. We collect as little as the features allow, and nothing is sold to anyone.
Data
Why
Where it is stored
Email address and password
To create and sign in to your account
Supabase (our backend). The password is hashed by Supabase; the app never stores it.
First name, country, length of visit, which visit this is, age range
To show your embassy and to let the assistant give advice that fits your trip
Supabase, readable only by your own account
Location
To show where you are on the map, to find the safety information for the area you are in, to notify you when you arrive at a landmark, and to include your position in an SOS message you choose to send
Processed on your device. It is never written to our database. The name of your city or district is sent with an assistant question so the answer is relevant.
Assistant messages
To answer your questions
Sent through our server to Google Gemini. We do not keep a copy on the server. The conversation is kept on your phone for 24 hours and then deleted.
Photos and reviews you submit
To add a place to the map or rate a place
Supabase Storage. A photo attached to a new place is public. A photo or comment attached to a review is private and visible only to the app's administrator.
Notification token
To tell you when a place you submitted has been approved
Supabase, alongside the submission
Purchase status (which plan, when it expires)
To unlock the paid features
Supabase. Payment details are handled by Apple and never reach us.
Payment card or bank details — purchases are processed entirely by the App Store.
Your contacts. The trusted contact you enter for SOS messages is stored only on your phone.
Any rating or review of a person. The app rates places and situations only, never people.
A history of where you have been. Location is used in the moment and not logged.
The app asks for location while you use it, and — only if you allow it — in the background. Background access is used for one thing: noticing that you have arrived at a landmark so it can be marked as visited and you get a notification about it. You can refuse or withdraw this at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working, including SOS and the emergency numbers.
Supabase — hosting for the database, storage and authentication.
Google (Gemini API) — processes assistant questions to generate answers.
Google Maps — supplies the map and directions.
RevenueCat and Apple — handle purchases and tell us whether a plan is active.
Expo — delivers push notifications.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
Account and profile data is kept while your account exists. Assistant conversations are kept on your device for 24 hours. Places and photos you submit stay in the app so other travellers can see them, unless you ask for them to be removed.
You can sign out at any time from the Profile screen.
You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it by writing to the address below. We will confirm and delete it within 30 days.
You can turn off location, notifications and photo access in your device settings.
The app is not intended for children under 13, and an account cannot be created with an age below 13.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
