The Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction (GeoDRR) Project (2020-2025), implemented under the 🌍European Union’s Erasmus CBHE program. The Project was 100% funded by the European Commission. As part of the project, an MSc GeoDRR specialization was launched at six Asian universities, accompanied by laboratory upgrades🥼🔬 and a series of training sessions.

European universities supported the implementation of the Project in the following areas:

· quality control of implementation (UA ES), 🇪🇸 🇪🇺

The project, carried out under the difficult conditions of the pandemic and the geopolitical situation, was completed with a “GOOD” rating from the European Commission thanks to the commitment and hard work of the Participants.
➡️ According to the World Risk Report 2021, Southeast Asia 🌏 continues to be one of the world's leading natural disaster risk hotspots in the years to come.
➡️ The global community's efforts to prevent natural hazards from transforming into disasters are guided by the Sendai document (Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030).
➡️ Principles of Action for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 have been adopted (UN, 2015). 🇺🇳
➡️ The Erasmus+ 🇪🇺 project "Geometrics for Disaster Risk Reduction" is a response to the demand in Asian countries, especially parts of Southeast Asia, for geomatics specialists. As already mentioned, given medium- and long-term forecasts, Asia will remain the region hardest hit 💥 by natural disasters.
➡️ Economic losses caused by natural disasters (only) the climate factor 🌀 have reached tens of billions of dollars for Southeast Asia, increasing almost 2.0-2.5 times in recent years.
➡️ The Project "Geometrics for Disaster Risk Reduction "is implemented by 10 Partners under the European Commission's ERASMUS+ program.
➡️ The goal of the GeoDRR Project is to start 2-degree studies "Geometics for Disaster Risk Reduction" at 6 Asian universities, as well as to equip and establish research laboratories at these universities to carry out this work.

❗️ The 2nd Degree Master’s Course 'Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction' (GeoDRR) is a study programme developed within the European ERASMUS PLUS Capacity Building Project under the supervision of European 🇪🇺 universities: Silesian University of Technology (SUT, Poland 🇵🇱, EU), University of Alicante (UA, Spain 🇪🇸, EU) and University of Western Attica (UNIWA, Greece 🇬🇷, EU).
❗️ The Project Leader is the Silesian University of Technology, a Research University, member of EURECA-PRO - a global education centre and interdisciplinary leader in research and innovation.
❗️ GeoDRR Project and the 2nd Degree Master ’Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction’ have been reviewed by two expert committees: GeoDRR Project Quality Curriculum Committee (18 disciplinary professors from all 9 Consortium Universities) and the GeoDRR Quality Assurance Board (10 experts from all 10 Consortium Members) 🇪🇺 🇵🇱 🇬🇷 🇰🇭 🇱🇺 🇲🇾 🇵🇭 🇪🇸.
❗️ GeoDRR Master's Programme is based on the rules of European study programmes with the simultaneous consideration of the requirements and formal regional regulations of the Asian Partner countries 🌏:
❕ - the study programme includes 14 subjects based on lecture, project, laboratory and seminar classes; the laboratory and project classes are based on modern laboratory infrastructure, including that acquired within the framework of the European Erasmus E+ GeoDRR Project,
❕ - the hourly course contents correspond to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits and include: 120 ECTS credits for 2 years of study (or 90 credits for 1.5 years of study - depending on the Asian Partner Country).
