Let me tell you, there was no predicting the outcome of this one. Over fifty people signed up, over thirty submitted entries, and then rating and evals were entirely left up to the anonymity of a random population. What does that mean? Take a look: a few writers turned out strongly, placing in many categories. But a lot of stories showed up in some places and nowhere else, meaning that many titles had particular strengths and specialities, which makes for very interesting evaluation in the end. That's why, without wanting to overwhelm reviewers, I try to include a wide spread of categories, so as many titles as possible can find a home. Notice all the ties, too: readers were given the option of selecting up to three titles for each category, and they still fell into three-way and four-way ties, even a six-way tie (not shown here: read the blog)! Lots of talent, lots of original ideas, lots of distinctive style—that's what these size writers bring to the table.
