I'm trying to use the Genie to check and possibly upgrade the firmware on my AC1900/A7000 WiFi USB Adapter. I have the latest version of the genie, and when I hit "check for update" it gets to 20% every time and just stops. I've let it set for an hour, and it never moves. It always stalls at 20%, have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and issue keeps happening. I believe I have firmware in need of upgrade, but don't know how else to do it. Tech support didn't seem to understand the issue or wasn't too interested in it, so I have no alternative. Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you fix it?

When attempting to update my firmware (V1.0.3.4_1.1.2) to the latest firmware 1.0.4.68_10.1.75 the download fails. I have tried to update the firmware via the latest Genie app on my PC and also via the iOS app on my iphone. The Genie shows that everything is good and the router is working properly. I have tried reboot, checked if local access is enabled, etc. I'm at a loss. Any ideas and thoughts?? Thanks

So first thing is some how tag your CPEs with their location. All of our CPEs have two interfaces, a private management interface that runs in the 172.x ip space, and the public PPPoE interface. Each of the cities we serve has a different /20 assigned to it. I created a VirtualParameter called Location. In this script, I match the first two octets of the IP to a location.

Not all CPE vendors use semantic versioning, some, like Zyxel use a firmware version string that looks like someone barfed on their keyboard, and I needed a way compare those too, so in my function that gets the firmware for the model it has all the knowledge of how to understand the various vendors versioning strategy

The last bit of code checks if there are any results, and applies the first entry. Reason being, you could have a situation where a CPE needs to be upgraded from v1.0.0.99 to v2.6.2.1 before going to v2.6.2.4 (had this happen).

The workaround for that issue is plug the cooler first before opening the game to prevent the firmware update. I think there's something issue with the Game Genie because the cooler firmware update bug will trigger when the Game Genie is active.. prob 152ee80cbc
