To help you get through this morass, contact Patrick Monson, a PhD candidate in imperial Russian history at Princeton University. He received a Bachelor's degree in East European family history. He pursued graduate studies at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Tartu. He can read Russian, Estonian, and Hebrew, as well as some German, Yiddish, and other Slavic languages. He has taken several paleography courses and currently teaches paleography at Brigham Young University-Idaho. In fulfillment of requirements to become a professor, and simply to share his love of the region's history, he is offering translation assistance and research consultation--from simple revision lists to complex court cases--for free.
