Innovating SmallSat Technology to Fortify Satellite Systems
We are an undergraduate team of 10 researchers led by Dr. Natalia Buzulukova (NASA Goddard) in the Gemstone Honors Program at the University of Maryland, College Park.
We are developing a novel CubeSat design that will protect satellites from the unpredictable consequences of space weather.
Check back here for research developments, fundraising updates, and other updates from the team. Please consider supporting us through future fundraisers and by following our Instagram (rubixumd)!

Spring 2026
We have submitted our application for the 2026 Mission Concept University Nanosatellite Program! If we are selected, this program would provide a $45,000 grant along with a summer internship. We hope to hear back in Mid-March, so stay tuned for updates!
With our recent fundraising success through Launch UMD, we are ready to hit the ground running this semester and begin testing the properties of expandable foam to develop our prototype!
