The invitational AMED-GA4GH GEM Japan workshops Sendai have been held in Sendai, Japan, once a year.

AMED Program for an Integrated Database of Clinical and Genomic Information organize these workshops, mainly focusing on data sharing for promotion of genome based medicine with GA4GH (Global Alliance for Genomics & Health) supported by the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization, Tohoku University. Our driver projects GEM Japan has committed on piloting and developing standards and policy frameworks with the GA4GH work streams; Genomic Knowledge Standards, Clinical & Phenotypic Data Capturing, Cloud, Data Use & Researcher Identities, and Discovery.

To work on these topics, we have hosted the workshops in Sendai, where the Tohoku Medical Megabank project is on going, which is the one of the largest biobank storing genome/omics , health and clinical data for 150,000 participants of prospective genome cohort.
