Increasing Visibility: Literature

In this session we will share literature representing diverse cultures authored by someone who is a part of that culture. Folks are already engaged in this work and you can see what has been shared on social media with #weneeddiversebooks, #ownvoices, and #disrupttext to name a few. Come hear and share examples of powerful literature published in the last two years that feature positive depictions of marginalized communities. Build a resource list and chat with other educators about how they use it effectively.

When: Oct. 3, 2018, 6:00-7:00

Where: Chinatown Chicago Public Library. 2100 S Wentworth Ave, Chicago, IL 60616.
