About Us
Originally, we were known as Brothers and Sisters in Blackness.
Later changed our names to Black Unifying Society. After a few years of this name, we decided that becoming the Black Student Union, would allow us to provide a space for all those who are exploring their blackness and have a place to do that. The name provides a sense of inclusion for everyone. The mission of the Black Student Union is to empower and uplift students of color through intentional programming that highlights Black excellence and achievements through leadership, fellowship, and cultural awareness.

We are to provide a safe and family space for all students in the Guilford community.
We are to praise each other for our accomplishments and not see each other as competitors.
We are not to look at those based on the shade of one’s skin, sexual orientation, or religious belief, but rather look at the individual’s content of character.
We are to provide assistance and support as students go about their way in Guilford College. For together we can accomplish anything.
