Reading

Task-based activities were developed to align with the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework. Search the topic that you are working on (filling in forms, math etc.) with your learner and choose the options that is right for you.

You can choose from 3 topics. The 3 topics are

  • Grammar

  • Reading Activities

  • Practice Reading

Click on a topic and choose a subtopic to work through a tutorial and activities.


Scroll down the page to choose your level and then choose a story. When you click on the story name, you will see some pre-reading questions and a link to to the story. You can listen to the story on the second reading. After reading the story three times, there are questions to answer and a writing activity. There are no answers on the website. Perhaps you can email them to someone at your program.


Choose your story. Once you have completed the story you can scroll down the page and there are activities that can be completed that are related to the story.


Online short stories accompanied by activities. On the main page at the top left-hand corner you can choose the Story Archive or Current Story.


Designed for families to practice literacy throughout 2020. Use these to start conversations with your learner about how to plan some activities that can involve the whole family.


Laubach has many resources that you can use with your learner. Most publications that were developed by Laubach are free to download. If you find a resource that isn't free contact the Adult Literacy Program Coordinator and ask if it is a resource that can be ordered.
