Shelter Now is a not for profit charity that owns and operates a 20 Unit Transitional Housing Complex called Hartog House. Shelter Now provides temporary housing for up to one year. 

18 bed emergency shelter with 24/7 hours of operation for registered guests.

Energy Assistance Programs

Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

This program provides a one-time grant towards your electricity or natural gas bill if you are behind on your bill and may face having your service shut off. It is for emergency situations.

Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)

This program provides low-income consumers with a monthly on-bill credit to reduce their electricity bill. This program provides ongoing help.

Energy Affordability Program

The Energy Affordability Program provides support to income-eligible electricity consumers by helping them to lower their monthly electricity costs and to increase their home comfort.

Who is eligible - People who live in Ontario (including those living in grid-connected First Nation communities) and are responsible for paying their monthly electricity bill as a homeowner or as a renter may qualify for this program.


Special Rules for low-income customers

Electricity utilities and unit sub-metering providers have to follow special rules when dealing with low-income customers; for example, waiving security deposits, allowing longer payment times and allowing payment times under arrears payment plans. Find out more by clicking HERE.
