LESSON 1: Jesus Is the Light

Background Scriptures: Matthew 5–7, Luke 6:20–26

QUESTION: Can you think of a time when you or someone observed chose to "shine" (exhibit godly character) in the midst of adversity?  Share your example

MEMORY VERSE: “You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden." (Matthew 5:14 NLT) 

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for being the Light of the world. Help me to follow You and shine Your light wherever I go. Fill my heart with kindness, love, and compassion so others can see You in me. Help me be a light that points people to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WEDNESDAY July 8

LESSON 2: Respond to the Light

Scripture Study: 1 Kings 10:1–13 

Background Scriptures: 2 Chronicles 9:1–12

QUESTION: Can you remember when someone’s timely word awakened your potential, or inspired you to achieve an important goal? Share an example.

MEMORY VERSE: "Praise the Lord your God, who delights in you and has placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord's eternal love for Israel, he has made you king so you can rule with justice and righteousness" (1 Kings 10:9 NLT) 

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for giving us wisdom and showing us Your love. Help us seek You like the Queen of Sheba did and recognize Your goodness in our lives. Let Your light shine through us so others will know You. Help us make wise choices and honor You in all we do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

THURSDAY July 9

LESSON 3: Share the Light

Scripture Study:  Acts 18:1–4, 24–28 

Background Scriptures:  Acts 18

QUESTION: Working together with a team or a partner can encourage us to do things we wouldn't have attempted on our own.  Can you recall a time when you and a partner tried something that you would not have attempted on your own?  Share an example

MEMORY VERSE: "When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately." (Acts 18:26) 

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for the example of Priscilla and Aquila. Help me share Your light with others through my words and actions. Give me courage to teach, encourage, and help people grow closer to You. Use me to shine Your light wherever I go. In Jesus' name, Amen.
