Greater Boston Relic Recovery (GBRR) is a free metal detecting service dedicated to revealing lost artifacts, relics, and collectibles on historic properties in Eastern Massachusetts—one of the most historically rich areas in the country. With remnants of colonial settlements, revolution-era activity, and early industry scattered across the region, your land could hold secrets from centuries past. Let’s uncover them together!
1️⃣ Fill out a request form — To schedule a search, start by filling out our online request form below with details about your property. This helps us assess the location and tailor our approach to maximize the chances of finding something interesting.
2️⃣ Schedule a visit and sign a simple agreement — If we determine your property is a good candidate for a search, we arrange a time while you are present for the entire session, providing full transparency. The agreement outlines the terms of the search, our responsibilities, and your rights as the property owner, ensuring that we respect your land and follow all laws.
3️⃣ We locate buried relics — Using professional-grade metal detecting equipment, we carefully uncover historical relics such as antique buttons, buckles, military insignia, toys, silverware—possibly even jewelry or family heirlooms! Receive real-time updates on discoveries via SearchParty™, a feature from GBRR that invites you on the hunt through a private digital album shared to your email address.

4️⃣ You keep it (if you want!) — Everything we find stays with you, except coins valued under $50 and trade tokens, which we ask to keep for our collections. We leave all non-coin relics with you at the end of the session and are happy to discuss our findings on-site or remotely.
