Liz Carroll (USA)

Since she was 18, when she astounded the Celtic music world by winning the Senior All-Ireland Fiddle Championship, Liz Carroll has been amazing audiences around the globe. She has been called a “virtuoso” (The Irish Times), a “celebrated torchbearer” (Lexington Herald-Leader), and a “master of Irish traditional music” (NPR’s The Thistle & Shamrock). She is a NEA National Heritage Fellow, a 2009 Grammy nominee (“Best Traditional World Album,” Double Play with John Doyle), and the first American-born recipient of the TG4 Gradam Cheoil for Cumadoir/Composer – Ireland’s most significant music prize. Liz’s recordings are in the majority, her own compositions, and they have given her a stature equal to that of her playing. She is celebrated for invigorating the traditional styles of Irish music, and her compositions have entered the repertoire of Irish and Celtic performers throughout the world.

Shane Cook (Ontario)

A Canadian and international fiddle champion, Shane Cook captivates audiences with technically thrilling and adventurous performances. Noted by The Canadian Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame as one of the “finest fiddlers in the world today,” Cook has distinguished himself as a master of the Canadian old-time fiddle tradition. He also excels at styles ranging from Irish and Scottish to French-Canadian and Bluegrass. Shane retired from competitive fiddling in 2006 as one of Canada’s most highly awarded fiddlers. He is a three-time Canadian Open National Champion, a three-time Canadian Grand Masters Champion and the only foreign fiddler to win the US Grand National Championship, a feat he accomplished at just 17 years of age! Shane leads his own group, Shane Cook and the Woodchippers, and performs regularly with several ensembles including The Stepcrew, The Allison Lupton Band, The Brian Pickell Band and the PBS hit, Bowfire, having toured extensively in Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, Germany, China and Taiwan. Shane is a graduate of Western University and resides in London, Ontario with his wife and son.

Pascal Gemme (Quebec)

Pascal Gemme is a leading light in Quebec’s traditional music scene. Known as much for his original compositions as his fine interpretation of traditional tunes, Pascal is the fiddler, singer and arranger of the band, Genticorum, whose CDs have met with critical acclaim in several countries. From a young age, the fiddle music and songs of his native province have captivated him. After graduating with a degree in composition and band arrangements at Montreal’s St Laurent College, he immersed himself in the traditional music around him, playing, collecting and recording music found all over Quebec. Pascal has developed a vast knowledge and is a leading exponent of the music. Pascal is now as much in demand as a teacher as a performer. He has been teaching weekly at the Ecole des Arts de la Veillée in Montreal since 2003, as well as at music workshops and master classes around the world, including the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Limerick (Ireland), the Goderich Celtic College (Ontario - Canada), The festival of American Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend (Washington - USA), the Alasdair Fraser's Fiddle Train and Sierra Fiddle Camp (California - USA) and recently the Quasitrad music camp (Australia). Pascal also works as a music producer, with his CD, “L’Amant Confesseur” nominated for a Canadian Folk award, as a studio musician, and recently, as the artistic director of the Sutton Fiddle festival, QC.

Jake Charron (Ontario)

As a member of The East Pointers, Jake Charron has also been in high demand as a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar and piano with the likes of Shane Cook, Troy MacGillivray, and Liz Carroll. His recently released duo album with Shane Cook entitled “Head to Head” was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award. Hailing from Ontario, Jake has taught at many camps in Canada, the United States and Europe.

Yann Falquet (Quebec)

Yann Falquet is a very active and creative acoustic guitar player on the Québécois music scene. He has explored many styles of music and completed a Bachelors degree in Jazz. Since then, he has developed a personal guitar style for Québec folk music, inspired by the playing of the accompanists of different cultures (Brittany, Scandinavia, Ireland, North America). His involvement in the province's traditional music scene has brought Yann to perform on numerous recordings, and to tour regularly throughout Canada, the U.S., Europe and Australia with his main project Genticorum. He also toured for three years with the award winning Celtic and world group The McDades. Yann has taught his guitar style at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Limerick, at the Goderich Celtic College as well as for Alasdair Fraser's Fiddle Train and Sierra Fiddle Camp.
