We are the Spacetroopers Brazil, a Brazilian students group of São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, which participate every year of the NASA Rover Challenge competition and the first team of our country to participate and win an award.
Our mainly objective is to incentive people of all ages for the interest with the actual science and technology, creating a new perspective of it and showing that the projects of NASA are not too distant of our reality.
Our members are: Aimée Borges, Beatriz Mata, Bianca Sardinha, Davi Iacovelli, Davi Sampaio, Davi Viana, Felipe Fonseca, Ingryd Andrade, Juliano de Moraes, Raphaela Reis, Vitória Ribeiro.
To explain why we choose this idea of vertical gardens, we need to see these three datas below:

The challenge addresses the pandemic that affects local food supplies and concerns about the risk of disruptions in supply chains and logistics that can affect food security in a region or in the world. In this sense, we observed a problem, the difficulty of obtaining vegetables, spices, herbs is similar to the fresh one. In view of this, thanks to the need for social isolation and price increases. In addition, through the analysis of EOSDIS data, it is shown that the majority of virus hotspots are in areas of high urbanization and population density. Our project was developed to reduce these problems. The idea of the project is to create an informative website, where you will have, step by step, how to create a small vegetable garden in your house or apartment with species easily accessible locally and selected according to the morphoclimatic profiles of each region also determined by EOSDIS data. . Reducing the need to leave the house to buy some medicines or vegetables, favoring the maintenance of social isolation and soon helping to reduce the spread of the virus. In addition, it would be a great activity for those who have little entertainment, as gardening is very relaxing and helps to have an occupation during this period. In addition, this garden does not need to end in the pandemic, it is a legacy that can improve the quality of life of these individuals and families in the long run.
In order to create morphoclimatic profiles, in order to select the varieties of local species best suited to each hotspot, we used data from EOSDIS worldview, NASA. They are maps with scales of different climatic and physical characteristics, which are: evaporation, average precipitation, superface skin temperature, humidity, surface temperature, vegetation concentration. With that, we determined the morphoclimatic profiles, therefore the following varieties by region.
