García-Hernández Lab

Magnetism & Magnetotransport

Welcome to the García-Hernández Lab website. The Lab is part of the 2D Foundry, a research group of the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (which is part of the Spanish Research Council).

For the last 25 years we have explored the magnetic and magnetotransport properties of magnetic materials, superconductors and semiconductors as bulk materials, as 2D, 1D or 0D low dimensional structures, from the fundamental and applied viewpoints. We have been involved in studies ranging from the optimization of permanent magnets or the magnetic properties of nanoparticles for hyperthermia cancer treatment to highly correlated systems exhibiting colossal magnetoresistance or superconductivity. Since the isolation of graphene in 2014, the group has devoted increasingly more experimental efforts to study and to understand the electronic, optic and magnetic properties of two-dimensional materials (graphene and beyond).
