If you want a robust, universal solution to secure a roof box or cargo carrier on your vehicle's crossbars for camping, choose GAOLAOSY 4PCS; if you need a flexible, tool-free system to organize and stop items from sliding inside the bed of a pickup truck, choose 3TVol 8Pcs. These two products solve completely different problems in the world of automotive hauling, and confusing them would be a costly mistake. One is designed to hold a massive container high above your car against wind and vibration, while the other is engineered to create walls inside your truck bed so your gear doesn't become a projectile during a hard stop. I have analyzed the specifications, materials, and intended applications for both kits to help you make the right call without getting lost in marketing fluff.
• GAOLAOSY 4PCS: Its biggest strength is the heavy-duty metal construction and comprehensive kit (including washers, backing plates, and sealing stickers) designed specifically to lock down a roof box securely. The trade-off is that it is a fixed mounting solution requiring installation on specific U-bolt patterns, making it useless for general cargo organization. This pick is for SUV and minivan owners who need to strap a large rooftop storage unit safely for long trips.
• 3TVol 8Pcs: Its biggest strength is the versatile, tool-free plug-and-play design that fits into 1.5-inch X-grid slots, allowing you to instantly reconfigure your truck bed layout. The trade-off is that it only works with compatible Tmat-style truck bed systems and cannot be used to mount external cargo carriers or boxes. This pick is for pickup truck drivers who haul loose gear like coolers, tools, or sports equipment and need to prevent shifting.
The GAOLAOSY 4PCS kit is built for one singular, critical purpose: keeping your roof box from flying off your car. When you are driving on highways, hitting potholes, or navigating ramps, the vibration and aerodynamic lift can loosen weak connections. This kit addresses that directly with its focus on stability. The manufacturer specifies that the kit includes rubber washers and plastic backing plates, which are not just accessories but essential components for increasing friction and minimizing vibration. Without these, metal-on-metal contact could lead to rattling or, worse, loosening over time.
The hardware itself tells a story of durability. The U-bolt clips are made of metal, chosen for their resistance to corrosion, deformation, and abrasion. This suggests the product is intended for harsh weather conditions where rain, road salt, and sun exposure are constant threats. You get eight heavy-duty lock nuts and two bandages, ensuring you have enough material to secure the load tightly on all four corners.
This product is perfect for the family heading out for a camping trip who has invested in a large rooftop cargo carrier. If you own an SUV or a minivan and rely on the roof space for sleeping bags, tents, or luggage, this is the anchor you need. It is also not a solution for organizing loose items inside a vehicle; it is strictly a mounting bracket. If your goal is simply to keep a cooler from rolling around in the back seat, this is the wrong tool for the job.

The 3TVol 8Pcs blocks serve a very different master: the pickup truck owner with a slat-style or grid-style bed liner. Unlike the GAOLAOSY kit, which bolts onto your car, these blocks snap into existing 1.5-inch X-grid slots found on compatible truck bed systems. The primary function here is anti-displacement. When you drive a truck, especially when carrying heavy loads like gravel, lumber, or a stack of kayaks, inertia causes everything to slide toward the tailgate. These blocks act as physical barriers, creating custom dividers that keep your cargo separated and stationary.
What makes this set particularly appealing for active lifestyles is the flexibility. Because they are designed for quick, tool-free installation, you can align a block with a slot and press it into place. There is no drilling, no wrenching, and no permanent alteration to your truck bed. If you are hauling a motorcycle one weekend and moving furniture the next, you can rearrange these blocks in seconds to accommodate different shapes and sizes. The pack comes with eight units, giving you plenty of options to create multiple compartments or reinforce the sides of your bed.
This product is ideal for someone who values organization and wants to protect their cargo from impact and abrasion. The weather-resistant design ensures they will hold up through seasons of sun, rain, and road grime, making them suitable for year-round use. However, you must verify your truck bed system compatibility first. If your truck does not have the specific 1.5-inch X-grid pattern, these blocks are useless. They are not universal clamps; they are specialized inserts for a specific type of organizer system. If you drive a sedan, an SUV, or a truck with a smooth bed liner, this kit offers zero value to you.
• Best for Roof Security → GAOLAOSY 4PCS: If your main concern is preventing a cargo carrier from detaching from your roof rails during high-speed travel, this is the only choice. The metal U-bolts and locking nuts provide the tensile strength needed for overhead loads.
• Best for Truck Bed Organization → 3TVol 8Pcs: If you need to stop a cooler or a toolbox from sliding across the bed floor, the 3TVol blocks provide the necessary friction and physical stopping power within a grid system.
• Best for Versatility in Hauling → 3TVol 8Pcs: With eight individual pieces, you can create multiple zones or adjust your setup based on what you are carrying. The GAOLAOSY kit is a fixed set meant for four specific mounting points.
• Best for Harsh Weather Resistance → GAOLAOSY 4PCS: Specifically engineered with corrosion-resistant metal and protective washers to withstand the elements while mounted on a roof, exposed to full UV and rain.
• Best for Tool-Free Adjustments → 3TVol 8Pcs: No wrenches or screwdrivers are required. You simply press the blocks into the grid slots, making it easy to reposition your cargo layout on the fly.
• Best for Specific System Integration → 3TVol 8Pcs: Only for trucks with compatible 1.5-inch X-grid cargo organizers. It is a system-specific component, not a universal adapter.
• Best for Preventing Vibration Noise → GAOLAOSY 4PCS: The inclusion of rubber washers and plastic backing plates is explicitly designed to dampen the noise and movement caused by highway vibrations.
I would buy the GAOLAOSY 4PCS if my primary goal was preparing my vehicle for a serious camping trip involving a rooftop storage box. The peace of mind that comes from knowing your gear is secured with heavy-duty metal clamps and vibration-dampening washers is worth more than any organizational trick. A loose roof box is a safety hazard; a loose item in a truck bed is just a nuisance. Therefore, for camping and long-distance travel where securing a large load is paramount, the GAOLAOSY kit is the superior investment. However, if you spend your days hauling loose equipment in a pickup truck, the 3TVol 8Pcs becomes the obvious winner for its convenience and adaptability. Ultimately, the decision rests entirely on whether you need to mount something on your car or organize what is in your truck.
The 3TVol blocks require a 1.5-inch X-grid slot in a truck bed. Always check your vehicle's specifications before buying.
No, both are designed for easy, tool-free or minimal-tool installation. The GAOLAOSY kit only requires tightening lock nuts by hand or with a basic wrench, while the 3TVol blocks snap directly into the grid slots without any tools at all.
Both are built for outdoor durability, but the GAOLAOSY 4PCS emphasizes corrosion resistance in its metal construction and includes rubber washers to prevent galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals, making it specifically suited for long-term roof exposure.
Absolutely not. The 3TVol blocks are strictly for internal truck bed organization and fitting into X-grid slots. They cannot be used to mount external cargo carriers or roof boxes to any vehicle.
