To Design and Simulation of Fixed Capacitor- Thyristor Controlled Rector (FC-TCR)
At the end of this experiment students are able to
LO1: Understand the role of the TCR in reactive power compensation and power factor correction
LO2: Analyze the voltage, current, and power characteristics under different load conditions.
LO3: Understand the dynamics of switching operations and their effects on power flow.
LO4: Understand how FC-TCR can be used for voltage regulation and power factor improvement.
MATLAB Software: Simscape (power system toolbox)
Theory should include following point
a) TCR Scheme
b) FC- TCR scheme
For details see video given below
Design and Simulate Fixed Capacitor- Thyristor Controlled Reactor (FC-TCR) Scheme for following conditions:
Supply voltage=230V, 50Hz, Single Phase AC supply
Line resistance=0.1 mOhm and inductance=0.1pH
Load=10kW and power factor varies from unity to 0.6 lagging

From simulation attach the waveforms for any ONE readings from the following table.
The waveform should consists
(1) Source side voltage, current, reactive power
(2) Load side voltage, current, reactive power
(3) Compensator side voltage, current, reactive power
(4) Firing angle and Current through TCR
From simulation note down record the values in following table
Quiz on this experiment will be conducted in LMS
