Dear Parents,
We find ourselves in unprecedented times and there are so many responses that have been voiced and heard . We have just passed through Pesach - a time when we have learnt to leave our limitations and go beyond ourselves and use our energy to forge ahead.
Ganeinu is moving forward. We really miss greeting each of the children and parents each morning and seeing their excited smile as they enter their classrooms. Yet, although we cannot do so in a physical sense, we are still open and will do our utmost to provide the best we can for our students. A big thank you goes to the teachers who have taken the best attitude forward and are creating engaging and exciting lessons for the children to learn and grow.
We can only imagine how this must be a very confusing time for the children even though they most likely are not able to express it. Seeing their teacher and friends in the class gives them some sort of comfort and security. Therefore, at this time, we have put together a structured curriculum for the students which will help them engage and acquire skills they need. Each class will be having two 40 minute sessions daily as well as a choice of 3 time slots for art. Thank you to Mrs Sally Bruhim for offering to do a yoga class every Thursday for the children.
PARENTS contains the same letters as PARTNERS. We have always believed this even when we were open in our physical building. Working together is the only way to have ultimate success with our students. How much more so at this time, when we are learning at home. We thank you for being so supportive and helpful in your child's education as we navigate through this remote learning.
A few thoughts to keep in mind at this time as you interact with your child: Parents, please understand that at this age, most learning occurs environmentally and through hands on learning. As the child is exposed, so he learns. They do not retain information from being drilled. Being that our teachers, who usually teach through hands-on experiential learning and arts, are currently limited in this area, we look to the parents to partner in giving the children these opportunities. Spend a few minutes outdoors (or at the window) to witness spring and all its capacities, as it arrives. Incorporate the learning into the childrens' daily activities such as setting a table by counting the utensils and adding them all together; or spend a few minutes reading a book and finding particular letters in the ABC or Aleph Bet. We will also be sending out links of activities that enhance the skills of your children and require minimal parental involvement.
To help alleviate the stress of constantly trying to find all the emails and links for the classes in various places, all necessary information regarding your child's class, as well as any homework or letters, will only be posted on this website under that particular teachers class.
We are always here to support and partner with all children and family at all times. Please feel free to reach out at any time with any questions or concerns.
We look forward to personally greeting you very soon, G-d Willing.
Most sincerely,
Shevy Kogan
