10th of February 2026
On the 8th of February 2026 in Thailand, voting booths opened for the people to vote in the 2026 Thai general election.
On the 10th of February, results came in to find the Bhumjaithai Party, a conservative and monarchist populist party, having won with 193 seats in the House of Representatives — 122 more than in the 2023 election. This was surprising, as polls and referendums leaned more towards a People's Party victory, hoever, the social democratic proggresivist party lost a painful 33 seats in the House of Representatives.
These elections show again that the left is slowly losing more ground across the globe in a concerning tempo, but the future of Thailand will be up to the populists for the coming years.
