Flesh Feast is a zombie horror game with a standard plot: several groups of people are caught in the chaos of infection and are trying to get out of it, well, or at least just survive. There can be up to four people in a group, but there is always one main character; losing it means defeat. Each key character has its own story and its own set of locations; selected items and command staff after the end of the level are transferred to the next. This forces you to carefully monitor your teammates and their equipment. There are sometimes other survivors in the levels; if they do not die, then at the end of the level they can replenish your squad.
Scattered throughout the locations are weapons, ammo, and key items. On the minimap, all useful items are marked with blue markers, but where and how to use them - the player must guess for himself. Basically, the tasks in the game come down to "find the key and open the door", but there are also more difficult ones. Weapons are standard - firearms and cold weapons, but each type has its own characteristics. For example, a gun hits a long distance, machine guns hit several targets at once, a baseball bat often knocks off a head, an ax cuts off limbs (which can be used as a weapon), a chainsaw cuts a zombie in half, and he will crawl after the character and try to grab him by the legs.
The complexity of the game lies in the fact that only one person can be controlled at a time, despite the fact that at the beginning of almost every level the group is scattered throughout the map. The game has two control modes: keyboard and mouse. Both modes perfectly complement each other: when running solo or in battle, manual control is more convenient, and it is better to lead a group with the mouse. Characters have several different actions available: hit/shoot, push back (especially useful when you need to quickly get out of the environment) and use an active object (for example, opening a door with a key card). There are often interactive things in the game: various buttons, doors, objects under current, devices that need to be filled with gasoline or blown up with dynamite, escalators that can be turned on and off, on a tennis court you can get hurt by a ball from a feeder, and on a wheat field - get under the combine.
Zombies - slow, clubfoot, howling, aimlessly loitering. You can run away from them, they can be easily deceived and lured into a trap, but you should not let the enemy get too close. They constantly respawn, and sometimes it's more effective to quickly slip through a dangerous place than to try to clear it. Since the game is fully three-dimensional, and the camera can be freely rotated, tilted and moved, it is convenient not only to view the area in search of key objects and safe routes, but also to choose suitable angles and zoom.
The game is difficult, especially if you fight for each member of the team, and not go fast alone. Flesh Feast cannot boast of a furious action or a hurricane of killing zombies - I would recommend it to fans of survival and the atmosphere of doom.
