Asphalt is a series of racing video games developed and published by Gameloft. Games in the series typically focus on fast-paced arcade racing set in various locales throughout the world, tasking players to complete races while evading the local law enforcement in police pursuits.

Asphalt: Urban GT, the first game in the series, was released for the Nintendo DS and N-Gage in 2004 alongside simplified J2ME versions for mobile phones. Incarnations of the game for various other platforms soon followed, the latest in the main series being Asphalt 9: Legends released in 2018; a number of spinoffs were also released, such as the endless runner Asphalt Overdrive, Asphalt Nitro, a minimal version of Asphalt for low-end devices with procedural generation as a selling point, Asphalt Xtreme, an off-road-centric entry into the series, and the drag racing game Asphalt Street Storm.

The series puts emphasis on fast-paced, arcade-style street racing in the vein of Need for Speed, along with elements from other racing games such as Burnout; the spin-off game Asphalt Xtreme takes place in an off-road racing setting, with open-wheel buggies, sport-utility vehicles and rally cars in lieu of supercars as in previous games. Each game in the series puts players behind the wheel of licensed sports cars from various manufacturers, from entry-level models such as the Dodge Dart GT, to supercars like the Bugatti Veyron, and even concept cars such as Mercedes-Benz's Biome design study.[1]

A free-to-play spinoff entitled Asphalt Overdrive was released for iOS and Android in September 2014.[6] Unlike prior titles in the series, the game is presented as an "endless runner" similar to the Temple Run franchise and Subway Surfers, and does not offer a traditional racing mode. Overdrive was then followed by Asphalt Xtreme, which focuses on arcade-style off-road racing, and in 2016 with Asphalt: Street Storm, a rhythm-based drag racing game in the vein of NaturalMotion's CSR Racing. Street Storm was quietly released in the Philippines in December 2016 for iOS devices.[7] Asphalt 9: Legends was released worldwide in July 2018, for macOS in January 2020, and for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on August 31, 2021.

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience, also shortened to GT Racing 2, was a 2013 racing video game, developed by Gameloft Bulgaria and published by Gameloft as part of the GT Racing series. It was released on November 13, 2013 for iOS, Android, and Blackberry 10 and on April 22, 2014 for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. It was released on Blacknut Cloud Gaming sometime in 2020.

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience is a racing game similar to the series Real Racing, especially Real Racing 3 and the second installment in the Gameloft racing series as a continuation of GT Racing: Motor Academy. It provides 67 licensed cars from more than 30 manufacturers and 13 tracks. Single player mode includes real controller ghosts similar to RR3. The single player mode is divided into 7 levels. Just like in RR3, you need special cars to finish specific levels. You can upgrade your car, and needs real-time and mechanical time, but it doesn't take time or cost to repair cars unlike RR3.

To my thoroughly pleasant surprise, however, I found Asphalt 4 to be not only 800 Nintendo Points well-spent, but a shockingly deep and comprehensively competent racing game. Sporting a capable 3D engine, Elite Racing boasts a handful of different play modes and enough unlockable cars, upgrades, and tracks to keep most players busy for much longer than may gamers have come to expect from a DSiWare title.

Well this is the perfect resource for exactly that.

The game breaks from tradition by focusing on drag racing and rhythm-based gameplay instead of the typical racing titles the series is known for. It appears to be a direct competitor for NaturalMotion's CSR Racing games.

Like all Gameloft games, they aim to make GT Racing as accessible as possible, with both brake assist and traction control that can be turned on for casual players, or disabled entirely for racing veterans. Games on Google+ just got infinitely more interesting. Gameloft has launched GT Racing: Motor Academy, a 3D sports car racing game built using HTML5, on the Google+ Games platform. If you're unfamiliar with console racing simulators like Gran Turismo, the game allows players to race realistic sports cars on various tracks in real time using the keyboard as a controller.

That's to say that this social game will involve very little clicking. According to Gameloft, GT Racing features 111 cars based on real-life models released by 26 manufacturers including Nissan, Audi, Ferrari and more. Racers must pass various driver's tests to upgrade their licenses and compete in "prestigious" racing events. But here's the clincher: real-time multiplayer racing.

"Gameloft is very excited about offering our games to Google+ users," Gameloft VP Publishing for the Americas Baudouin Corman said. "GT Racing is bringing a stunning racing experience right in the browser, and we are happy to be pioneering the field with Google to bring the social gaming platform to the next level."

GT Racing is certainly a treat to look at when it comes to social games. But as with other 3D games on Google+, initially loading the game can take several minutes and players shouldn't be surprised to see their sessions lag or freeze completely while playing. HTML5 social gaming in 3D is undoubtedly here, but not without a few kinks.

Cars and gameplay

Like the other games in the franchise, Asphalt 8: Airborne comes with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from an arcade racer. For starters there are 47 cars, including luxury racers like the Bugatti Veyron and the Lamborghini Veneno, each of which you'll eventually unlock as you earn money by racing. Getting the top-tier cars will definitely take some time, but like many games these days, Asphalt 8 lets you spend real cash to buy car packs if you want to get ahead quickly. Fortunately, even the beginning cars are pretty appealing, so you won't have to pay your dues racing some subcompact tin can like you do in other games if you don't want to spend the money. 2351a5e196
