It's one of a large number of snail species grouped under the 'Giant African Land Snail' umbrella. This one is an archachatina marginata ovum. In the wild they live in various West African countries.
Once upon a time, back in the 90s, I had a snail website. I used it to practice my html and other coding 'skills'*. It's quite embarrassing looking back on it nowadays; the archived version can still be found online if you fancy a laugh. In my defense, I was very young back then, and IIRC, it was also the only pet snail website online at the time.
*Obviously I had no skills, but back in the day this was all coded by hand, no Dreamweaver or the like back then! It was also all fields round here ...
These particular snails have all come from Brixton Market, over a number of years (I'm not overrun with hundreds of snails, they come, they pass, I restock)! They are wild caught and imported into the UK for the food trade.
My PBase snail gallery, with these pictures plus lots of older ones, and my original 2002 description of how to get to the Brixton Market snails, can be found on the PBase website.
And yes, I really did take my snails to visit the Snailspace sculptures in 2018.
