What is Galactic?

Introducing Galactic, the new way to search and explore the internet on your wrist!

Galactic is powered by 5 leading search engines, including Bing, Wikipedia, the English Dictionary, Pexels, and DuckDuckGo Instant Answers in order to deliver desktop-class results in an instant. Instead of directing you to their websites, Galactic utilises these engines' APIs to present their findings in a style that feels perfectly at home on your Apple Watch.

These providers allow you to retrieve quick answers to questions, define puzzling words, read detailed articles, and browse stunning images without having to touch your iPhone.

Galactic can also launch websites you find in search results, or enter manually, without the need for your phone to be nearby — allowing you to truly browse the web on just your Watch. The app also works with the limitations a small device like this brings, and comes with several options to launch your favourite sites, ensuring compatibility across the internet.

If you find something interesting and would like to continue browsing later, Galactic allows you to share it to your iPhone and store it in your on-device history (which can be cleared at any time). In addition, you can also send almost anything you come across to your friends, family, or work colleagues over text directly from your wrist — providing for much more productive discussions, meetings, and more.

Galactic doesn't attempt to stuff everything you'd find on your phone's browser down to your Watch, allowing for a design with clickable buttons and readable text that presents information perfectly, even on the go. The app also keeps customisation and accessibility in mind, giving you options to cycle through themes and text sizes, to make your browser truly yours.

Due to the limitations of its hardware, Galactic cannot ensure compatibility with every website — however, you can choose between several website rendering options which utilise various different technologies to find the one that works with a specific site. Although your iPhone does not have to be in proximity for most features, one of the website renderers require your phone to operate. This mode is not the default, and you can browse most sites without using it.
