I am an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Social Statistics at the Department of Economicsof Ca' Foscari University of Venice.
I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and my Master's degree in Biostatistics and Experimental Statistics from the University of Milan-Bicocca. Under the supervision of Prof. Maria Giovanna Ranalli, I earned my Ph.D. in Statistics in December 2015 at the same university.
In the following years, I worked as a research fellow in Methodological Statistics at the University of Perugia (collaborating with Profs. Maria Giovanna Ranalli and Francesco Bartolucci) and at the University of Pisa (collaborating with Profs. Monica Pratesi and Nicola Salvati); I also served as a researcher at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa (working with Prof. Chiara Seghieri) before moving to Venice in February 2023.
My research areas include small area estimation (SAE) methods, robust statistics, latent variable models, multidimensional composite indicators, and data integration techniques for heterogeneous sources. The main applications of my research focus on the multidimensional aspects of poverty, inequalities and sustainable well-being.
Since 2015, I have been collaborating with the Italian National Institute of Statistics(Istat) on several projects aimed at the methodological and practical development of SAE models in official statistics, and on defining and measuring multidimensional educational poverty.
For the 2024–2025 term, I am an elected member of the S2G group, the SIS group on "Methodologies for Sample Surveys."
I have been a consultant for FAO (The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and for Save the Children ONLUS. Since 2018, I have participated as a member or co-PI in several projects funded by the European Union.
