Dragon Fly is a simple infinite runner arcade game inspired by Flappy Bird. It was a fun week-long project between myself and my girlfriend. The game has unlockable cosmetics and a high score system!
I was the sole programmer and developer on the project. I created the game logic that makes the whole game work. The dragon actually doesn't move left or right. The dragon stays still while the player pushes him up and down. The castle pillars are moving left at a constant speed, and they are spawned at random heights! I programmed all of that logic along with the basic controls and UI.
I had already been making games for years before beginning development on Dragon Fly, and the game design and mechanics were very simple, so when it came to programming, there wasn't much to learn. However, this was my first time working with a partner on a game. I learned how to plan ahead for what art would look like in the game and how the animations would look. I also learned how to implement the art and add colliders that fit the objects, but still never feel too unforgiving for the player. Overall, it was a small, cute game to be the first game I developed and put online for the world to play!
