Artist Statement

My portfolio describes the experience of "losing time" during the pandemic: each of the pieces fades out at the edges like a vague memory, and even in the distinct scenes I remember (spending time with friends, in hallways walking to class), nothing's painted quite evenly, and it's all disrupted by my perception of a ticking clock. The clock is set to 5:33 because I spent 533 days away from Scripps, from March 13, 2020 to August 28, 2021, and the beams of light in the rightmost piece, from top to bottom, count 5, 3, 3.
