When planning this piece, I wanted to practice composition.   I was inspired by artists who include comic-like panels into their illustrations. I decided to paint a deer in the headlights so I could show the different angles of a split second moment. The stars in the deer’s eyes are meant to be the reflection of the car’s headlights. The halo above the deer’s head shows that the deer might as well already be dead.
