If you want deep bass, secure in-ear isolation, and a compact case for long commutes, choose Gabba Goods Earbuds; if you need to hear your surroundings while fishing, superior battery endurance, and an open design that never hurts your ears, choose Monster Open Ear AC336.
• Gabba Goods Earbuds: Delivers immersive sound with 6mm dynamic drivers and passive noise isolation but offers only 4 hours of continuous playtime per charge. This is the pick for commuters or gym-goers who prioritize audio depth and portability over all-day listening.
• Monster Open Ear AC336: Features a clip-on design with 21 hours of total playtime and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity but lacks in-ear sealing for maximum bass punch. This is the pick for outdoor enthusiasts, specifically anglers, who need situational awareness and extended battery life.
• Final Verdict: If you are looking for the best bluetooth headphones for fishing where safety and battery matter most, the Monster wins; if you need reliable noise canceling sleep headphones for fishing or a quiet commute, the Gabba Goods is the safer bet.
The Gabba Goods Truebuds Bliss earbuds are engineered for people who want a traditional, sealed listening experience that isolates them from the world. These are not just generic wireless buds; they utilize advanced Bluetooth 5.0 technology to maintain a stable connection up to 10 meters away from your device. The in-ear bud shape creates a physical barrier that provides passive noise cancellation, which is crucial when you need to block out background chatter or wind noise to focus on your music or calls.
For the angler or the daily traveler, the design prioritizes comfort and convenience in a small package. The unit comes with a lightweight, USB-C rechargeable case that fits easily into a pocket or tackle box. While the individual earbuds offer a solid 4-hour playtime on a single charge, the included 400mAh charging case extends this significantly, allowing for multiple recharges throughout the day. The fast charging capability means you can get an hour of listening time from just a short charge cycle, making it ideal for those quick trips to the water or a short drive to work.

However, this product has clear limitations that define who should skip it. Because these are in-ear buds designed for passive isolation, they do not allow ambient sound to pass through. If you are fishing in a boat where hearing approaching waves, other boats, or wildlife is a safety requirement, these will isolate you too much. Additionally, the 4-hour battery life per charge is respectable but falls short compared to competitors offering all-day endurance without needing to return to the case. They are perfect for indoor use, the gym, or short outdoor bursts, but they lack the environmental awareness required for serious open-water activities.
The Monster Open Ear AC336 represents a completely different philosophy in audio design, one that prioritizes safety and endurance over total isolation. With its clip-on form factor, these earbuds sit outside the ear canal rather than inside it. This ergonomic approach ensures that your ear remains unobstructed, allowing you to hear the sounds of nature, the splash of a lure hitting the water, or the call of another fisherman while still enjoying high-fidelity stereo sound. The 13mm drivers paired with a dedicated digital audio processor deliver rich, detailed audio that feels immersive despite the open design.
This product is explicitly built for the active user who demands longevity. The battery life here is a standout feature, offering up to 21 hours of total playtime with the charging case. For a full day of fishing or a long weekend camping trip, you likely won't need to plug them in once. The inclusion of Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) helps ensure that your voice comes through clearly during calls even in windy conditions, which is a common issue for outdoor gear. Furthermore, the IPX6 waterproof rating means these can handle splashes, rain, or sweat without issue, making them rugged enough for harsh outdoor environments.
The trade-off for this open design is that you lose the deep bass and complete silence that in-ear models provide. Sound leakage is possible, meaning someone sitting next to you might hear your music at higher volumes. Also, while the Bluetooth range extends to 33 feet, the open fit relies entirely on the clip staying secure. If you are doing high-intensity sports or jumping around, you must ensure the clip is locked tight. But for fishing, hiking, or cycling, where situational awareness is non-negotiable, this model is far superior to any sealed earbud. It is the definitive choice for anyone who refuses to wear "noise canceling sleep headphones for fishing" because they need to see and hear their environment to stay safe.

After analyzing the specifications and design intent of both units, I would buy the Monster Open Ear AC336 for my own fishing trips.
