If you want a dedicated, battery-powered machine to play and record physical cassette tapes with a built-in radio, choose G Keni Cassette Tape Player; if you need lightweight, foldable wired headphones for gaming or travel that work with modern consoles like the PS5, choose ELECDER i45. These two products sit in completely different categories of audio gear, yet they often appear together when buyers search for retro audio solutions or budget-friendly listening options for next-gen consoles. The G Keni is a standalone device designed to resurrect the analog era, while the ELECDER i45 is a modern accessory meant to deliver sound directly into your ears without wires.
• G Keni Cassette Tape Player: Its biggest strength is its all-in-one functionality as a portable player, recorder, and AM/FM radio with a telescopic antenna; its trade-off is its bulkier form factor and reliance on C batteries or an AC cord rather than USB-C charging. This pick is for the nostalgic listener who wants to interact with physical media.
• ELECDER i45: Its biggest strength is its compact, foldable design and 3.5mm wired connection that works seamlessly with smartphones, tablets, and game consoles; its trade-off is the lack of active noise cancellation and no built-in power source since it draws from the device. This pick is for students, travelers, and gamers looking for affordable, reliable audio output.
The G Keni Cassette Tape Player is not just a toy; it is a fully functional piece of hardware designed for people who still own cassettes or want to explore the format for the first time. With its classic black finish and sturdy build, this device brings a sense of nostalgia to any room. It features a built-in speaker system that delivers stereo sound, meaning you can listen to music or radio broadcasts without needing extra equipment. The inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack allows for private listening sessions, which is perfect for late-night use or shared spaces where volume needs to be kept down.
One of the most compelling features for potential buyers is the ability to record directly onto tape. Whether you want to capture voice memos, save a favorite radio broadcast, or create custom mixtapes, the built-in microphone makes this process straightforward. You do not need a computer or external software to make these recordings; the unit handles everything internally. The upgraded tuner ensures strong reception for both AM and FM bands, aided by a telescopic antenna that you can extend to get the clearest signal possible. This makes it a versatile companion for road trips, camping, or simply relaxing in the kitchen.

Powering this device offers flexibility that many modern gadgets lack. You can plug it into a wall outlet using the included AC power cord for stationary listening, or you can install four C batteries (not included) for true portability. The integrated carry handle makes it easy to transport from the garage to the patio or from the living room to the bedroom. However, because it relies on large C batteries for mobile use, it is heavier and less convenient for long-term carrying compared to smaller devices. If you are looking for something to connect to a PlayStation 5 to play audio files, this is not the right tool; it is strictly for analog media.
This product is ideal for parents who grew up with mixtapes, collectors looking for a way to digitize old cassettes, or anyone who enjoys the tactile experience of pressing buttons and threading tapes. It is also excellent for seniors who appreciate simple, physical controls over complex touchscreens. However, if you are seeking a device to connect wirelessly to your console or phone via Bluetooth, or if you need something that fits in a small backpack pocket, you should skip this option entirely. It requires space and a specific type of media to function, but for those needs, it performs exceptionally well.
The ELECDER i45 is a pair of wired on-ear headphones designed with a focus on portability and compatibility across various devices. Unlike the G Keni, which is a standalone audio source, the i45 is an output device that connects to whatever media player you already own. It features a 3.5mm auxiliary jack, making it universally compatible with smartphones, laptops, Chromebooks, and gaming consoles. The folded dimensions of approximately 6 by 4.5 inches mean it takes up very little space, making it a practical choice for students commuting to school or travelers navigating airports.
These headphones are built with a durable enclosure made of nylon and plastic, ensuring they can withstand daily wear and tear. The adjustable headband accommodates different head sizes, allowing both children over eight years old and adults to find a comfortable fit. The 40-millimeter dynamic drivers provide a frequency range from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, delivering clear stereo sound suitable for music, podcasts, and game audio. While they rely on sound isolation rather than active noise cancellation to block out background noise, the on-ear design combined with the padding helps reduce ambient distractions effectively enough for most environments.
A key consideration for users is the lack of volume control on the earcup itself. To adjust the sound level, you must use the controls on your connected device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or game controller. There is also no built-in microphone mentioned in the specifications for voice chat, so these are primarily for listening rather than talking. They are not Bluetooth headphones, so there is no risk of wireless latency issues, which can be a significant advantage for competitive gaming on systems like the PS5 where every millisecond counts. The 1.5-meter cord provides ample length for movement without being cumbersome, though it does tether you to your source device.
This product is perfect for anyone who wants high-quality audio without breaking the bank or dealing with charging cables and battery anxiety. It is an excellent choice for kids heading back to school, as the bright grey and blue color scheme appeals to younger users while remaining durable enough for rough handling. Gamers who prefer a zero-latency wired connection over wireless options will also find value here. However, if you are looking for wireless freedom, deep bass with heavy subwoofers, or a headset with a built-in mic for team communication, this model may fall short of your expectations.
• Best for playing physical cassettes → G Keni Cassette Tape Player (it is the only one capable of reading magnetic tape).
• Best for connecting to a PS5 → ELECDER i45 (the wired 3.5mm jack provides a direct, low-latency connection for gaming audio).
• Best for portability → ELECDER i45 (folds down small enough for a bag; G Keni requires carrying a heavy box with a handle).
• Best for recording audio → G Keni Cassette Tape Player (has a built-in microphone and recorder to create new tapes).
• Best for battery independence → G Keni Cassette Tape Player (can run on C batteries without needing a constant power outlet).
• Best for comfort during long sessions → ELECDER i45 (lightweight on-ear design is generally more comfortable for hours of use than the larger G Keni).
• Best for modern digital devices → ELECDER i45 (works with phones, tablets, and PCs without adapters, whereas G Keni ignores them).
• Best for radio listening → G Keni Cassette Tape Player (includes a dedicated AM/FM tuner with a telescopic antenna).
I would buy the ELECDER i45 if my primary goal was to use headphones for gaming on my PS5 or for daily listening on my phone. In my opinion, the convenience of a wired connection that guarantees no lag, paired with a lightweight, foldable design, makes it the superior choice for modern entertainment. The G Keni is a fantastic gadget for a specific hobbyist niche, but it cannot replace the utility of a good pair of headphones for a console. For a user torn between these two, the ELECDER i45 offers the versatility needed for a multi-device household, whereas the G Keni is a specialized tool for a single purpose.
No, the G Keni is designed exclusively for playing and recording physical cassette tapes and receiving AM/FM radio signals. It lacks the necessary connectivity ports to interface with a PlayStation 5 or any other modern digital console.
No, these are wired headphones that connect via a 3.5mm auxiliary jack. They do not have Bluetooth capabilities, which means you will not experience wireless interference but will need to stay connected to your device by cable.
Based on the product specifications, the ELECDER i45 focuses on audio playback and does not list a built-in microphone or inline controls for voice communication, so they are best suited for listening only.
The G Keni operates on four C-size batteries for portable use, though it also comes with an AC power cord for stationary listening at home or in the office.
