If you want reliable, waterproof 3/4" amber marker lights for a bike rack or trailer setup that withstands harsh weather, choose FXC 10x; if you need a precise, color-coded tire tread depth gauge to ensure your vehicle safety is up to code, choose GODESON 88702.
These two products serve entirely different purposes on the road, and comparing them directly is like asking whether a flashlight is better than a ruler. However, both are essential tools for vehicle maintenance and modification. One transforms the visibility of your rig, while the other protects the integrity of your tires. The FXC 10x is a lighting solution designed for trucks, trailers, and RVs, offering a pack of ten units to illuminate the sides of your load. The GODESON 88702 is a compact measuring tool that helps drivers determine when their tires are worn down to unsafe levels. If you are looking for parts to outfit a bike rack system, the FXC lights are the only relevant choice here, but if you are checking the health of the tires on the truck pulling that rack, the GODESON gauge is the critical item. Understanding the specific design intent behind each unit ensures you buy the right tool for the job without wasting time on incompatible gear.
• FXC 10x: Strength lies in its IP68 waterproof sealing and high-output LED chips for maximum visibility; trade-off is it requires specific wiring knowledge (black negative, yellow positive) and offers no built-in battery.
• GODESON 88702: Strength is its intuitive color-coded scale (Red/Yellow/Green) that instantly tells you if your tires are safe; trade-off is it measures only tread depth and cannot perform any other diagnostic function.
• Who needs FXC: Drivers who need to outfit a large vehicle, boat trailer, or custom bike rack with durable, flush-mount side markers.
• Who needs GODESON: Vehicle owners who want a quick, pocket-friendly way to verify tire safety without visiting a mechanic.
The FXC 10x is engineered for those who need consistent illumination across a wide area, particularly for commercial vehicles, heavy-duty trailers, or recreational setups like boats and campers. The defining feature of this kit is the inclusion of ten individual 3/4" round lights, which allows for symmetrical placement along the sides of a long load. Whether you are securing a bike rack to the back of a van or adding clearance markers to a semi-trailer, having a full set means you can meet legal visibility requirements without buying multiple smaller packs. The design prioritizes durability in harsh environments. Constructed with a PC lens and silicone grommets, these lights are built to resist cracking and aging. The IP68 rating indicates they are completely sealed against water and dust, meaning they will keep working even if you drive through deep puddles or wash down a muddy trailer after an off-road trip.
This product is ideal for the DIY enthusiast or professional installer who values a flush-mount aesthetic. The 3/4" mounting hole size allows for a low-profile installation that doesn't snag on branches or get damaged by debris. The internal components use three 2835 SMD chips per light, which provides strong output while maintaining low power consumption. This efficiency is crucial for vehicles where electrical systems are shared or limited, such as older RVs or custom-built camper vans. The rubber grommet included with the assembly simplifies the physical installation process, eliminating the need for screws that might loosen over time due to vibration. However, this is not a plug-and-play device for someone unfamiliar with basic automotive wiring. You must connect the black wire to the negative ground and the yellow wire to the positive source. If you are not comfortable with 12V DC connections, this will require additional research or a helper.

You should skip this product if you are looking for a simple decorative bulb or a light that operates on batteries. These are hardwired 12V DC units intended for permanent or semi-permanent installation. If your goal is simply to make a bike rack visible from a distance during dawn or dusk driving, this kit delivers the necessary brightness and weather resistance to do the job safely.
The GODESON 88702 serves a very specific, life-saving function: measuring tire tread depth with absolute clarity. Unlike digital gauges that require calibration or expensive electronic readers, this tool relies on a mechanical bar with a distinct color-coding system. The scale runs from 0 to 1 inch, calibrated in 1/32nd increments, which is the industry standard for tire measurement. The genius of this design is the visual feedback provided by the colors. When the red section shows, you know you are at 0 to 3/32 inches—a dangerous zone where traction is severely compromised. The yellow range covers 3/32 to 6/32 inches, indicating a warning stage where replacement should be planned soon. Finally, the green range spans from 6/32 to 32/32 inches, signaling a healthy tire with plenty of life left. This immediate visual cue removes the guesswork and math often associated with reading fine print on a metal gauge.
This tool is perfect for the conscientious vehicle owner who wants to check their tires before a long road trip or during seasonal changes. The inclusion of a pocket clip is a thoughtful detail that keeps the gauge attached to your clothing or gear bag, ensuring it is always accessible when needed. It works on anything from motorcycles and passenger cars to heavy trucks, making it a versatile asset for anyone who drives multiple types of vehicles. The "2 pieces" count suggests you can keep one in the car and one in the garage, or perhaps share one with a spouse or neighbor.
However, this is not a multipurpose diagnostic tool. It does not measure air pressure, wheel alignment, or brake pad thickness. If you need to fix a flat tire or balance wheels, this gauge will not help. It is strictly for tread depth. Furthermore, it is not designed for industrial mining equipment or specialized racing tires that might have non-standard tread patterns or depths outside the 0-1 inch range. For the average driver maintaining a family sedan, pickup truck, or the vehicle used to tow a bike rack, this is the ultimate quick-check device. It answers the single most important question about tire safety: "Is my tread still good?"
• Best for visibility on a bike rack → FXC 10x, because it provides the required amber clearance lights for rear and side mounting.
• Best for instant safety checks → GODESON 88702, because the color-coded bars tell you the tire status at a glance without calculation.
• Best for harsh weather resistance → FXC 10x, given its IP68 waterproof and dustproof seal compared to the open-air nature of a manual gauge.
• Best for installation ease → GODESON 88702, as it requires zero tools or wiring; FXC 10x requires connecting wires and drilling a 3/4" hole.
• Best for fleet or large vehicle coverage → FXC 10x, as the 10-unit pack allows you to equip a long trailer or bus with uniform lighting.
• Best for precision measurement → GODESON 88702, offering 1/32-inch accuracy calibrated specifically for tire safety standards.
• Best for longevity → FXC 10x, rated for 100,000 hours of operation, whereas the GODESON gauge is a passive tool whose lifespan depends on physical wear.
I recommend the FXC 10x if your primary goal is to outfit a bike rack or trailer with high-quality, weather-resistant marker lights. The combination of the IP68 rating, the robust PC lens, and the full 10-pack quantity makes it the superior choice for getting a vehicle seen on the road. It is a foundational component for vehicle safety regarding visibility. Conversely, I recommend the GODESON 88702 if your priority is simply checking the condition of your tires before hitting the highway. Its color-coded simplicity is unmatched for quick, accurate assessments. While both are excellent products for their respective categories, if I had to pick one to ensure my towing setup was fully compliant and visible, the FXC 10x lights are the more transformative upgrade for the vehicle itself.
Yes, the FXC 10x lights are designed specifically for 12V DC universal applications, making them suitable for trucks, cars, boats, and RVs.
The GODESON 88702 reads in 32nds and is suitable for trucks, motorcycles, automobiles, and any passenger vehicle within the 0 to 1-inch tread depth range.
Installation involves cutting a 3/4" hole and using the included rubber grommet for a screw-free fit, then connecting the black wire to negative and yellow to positive.
The color coding is a factory-calibrated feature where Red indicates danger (0-3/32), Yellow is caution (3/32-6/32), and Green is safe (6/32+).
