How does it work?
- Teachers and schools can create events, like live classes, meetings or appointments using their Fort Worth ISD credentials.
- Students can join live classes by accessing a link provided by their teachers. (Will use their @students.fwisd.org account)
- Parents can attend appointments and meetings using Google Hangouts Meet by using their computer or the Hangouts App for Android or iOS devices.
- Parents and Students can join by phone if a stable Internet connection is not available.
- Meeting organizers, like teachers or other school staff, can record meetings and live classes to be made available later if someone is not able to attend.
Joining a Meeting
- Open the meeting event with the link provided (posted on ItsLearning, Google Classroom, or emailed)
- Click on the web address under Hangouts Meet joining info.
- Enable your audio and video if you would like then select “Join meeting”
- You can also call in with any phone using the phone number and PIN listed in your calendar invite.

How to Join or Start a Meeting
- In a web browser, enter meet.google.com OR add the app to your Class Link Launch Pad
- Click Join or start a meeting.
- Enter a name to start your own meeting. Click Continue.
- Click Join now.
- To add someone to a meeting, choose an option:
a. Click Copy joining info and paste the meeting details into an email or share through another app.
b. Click Add people and choose an option:
i. Under the Invite section, select a name or enter an email address and click Send invite.
ii. Under the Call section, enter a phone number and press Call 📞.
Quick Tips and Features
- Mute your microphone when you are not speaking to not disrupt the speaker
- Group chat is available by selecting the messages icon during a call.
- Share your screen or present a Google Slide presentation.
- Record the meeting and share to Google Drive.
- Turn on closed captions to automatically transcribe the speaker’s speech
