Eko won't think twice about switching sides if it means getting what he wants. He's a very persistent and clever Felvarg who only has his best interest in mind, who always has his own agenda. He has a hard time keeping to himself and always has to get in someone's business, talking nonstop.

Eko and Polaris started with a neutral relationship, only doing tasks together to further the rebellion's efforts and to raise their stockpile. Eko had little to no negative feelings towards Polaris, he worked hard, did what he was told to do, and only complained little. When he became annoyed with the Felvarg was when he caught Eko stealing the battle plans, going to give them to Loki. He knows that Polaris holds a grudge and will fight him when they see each other again, and putting a dent in his plans makes him a little annoying, but nothing more.
