Furofushi Onsen started its business in the 1970s. It had only a small amount of hot water at first, but after it was dug into up to 200 meters in depth, a larger amount of hot water was discovered and it became an onsen. The name of Furofushi, which means eternal youth and immortality in Japanese, was derived from the legend that "You will never get old or weak if you take a bath here." In addition, Heneshizaki, a headland where the hot spring is placed, was called Ougonzaki as the landscape is tinted with gold by the sunset.
Landscape from the hot spring
The open-air bath is open until sunset so that you can enjoy the one and only golden landscape. You will also feel the waves crushing the seawall and sea breeze as the bath is so close to the sea. Other than the open-air bath which is overhanging from the hotel, there are two baths and from all of the baths you can see the great wide ocean of the Japan Sea.
Spring quality and medicinal benefits
Furofushi Onsen is a 100% natural hot spring without any filtration or additives, and they are fresh. You will be able to recognize the thick texture of the hot spring as the jet part is colored by the precipitate. 400 milliliter of the reddish brown hot spring water with lots of iron gush out every minute. The hot spring is called "thermic water" because it warms well and is less likely to get chilly after the bath. In addition, it has other names; "injury water" and "skin care water" as it has the benefits of bactericidal action and smoothing skin.
